Steven Carl Townsend

Mr. Townsend is super smart. He knows the law front and backwards. I can see him in a actual trial as a strong cross examinationer, particularly because he can think on his feet and he can read between the lies that are being told. He's expensive, but all good attorneys are. I would suggest to him... that he adjust his communication skills to his client's level of understanding. However, Mr. Townsend's strongest attribute is that he is a "RUMBLER " and will not compromise his client's position. That is major and most important item in a lawyer/ client relationship.

I was in the law enforcement profession for 25 years and have been encircled by many defense attorneys in the profession. Obviously being in that profession I was always sitting on the prosecution side of the table; however, I found myself in a complex and unfortunate situation where I was required t...o find a qualified defense attorney. One of my colleagues recommended Attorney Steve Townsend as the go to guy for an outstanding defense attorney. After meeting with Steve, the tempo was set, he was the one I chose to represent me in the defense of the charges I had to face. I found with Attorney Townsend he was honest, he never color coated anything, and wasn't one to tell you what you wanted to hear. I also discovered that he wasn't about numbers or displaying a character of a "Perry Mason" figure and always winning his cases. However, he was about taking the route that was best for his client and representing him with the utmost concern and understanding for feelings. Although I was in the law enforcement profession and very experienced there were many legal avenues I wasn't aware that took place in the Federal criminal proceedings. I surely was never aware that this court favored the prosecution side and sitting in the defense was like being "guilty and proving your innocence" instead of "innocent until proven guilty" . Attorney Townsend felt my case was very defend able and had confidence in defeating the charges, but once he explained the unfairness for the defense in this particular court system, his interest wasn't about chalking one into his win column. His concern became what was in the best interest for his client. Having been involved with many defense attorneys through law enforcement I know that many times defense attorney's just want to make a deal in reduction of the charges, and be on their way to the next client. This approach was never displayed or dictated by this attorney, instead he recognized the unfairness, the good character in me, and what was best for myself & my family. Once Attorney Townsend explained the unfairness that I would be faced with, the options that we had, and what was in my best interest, the decision was made. Believe me, after all my years sitting on the prosecution side of that table it wasn't an easy journey now sitting on the defensive side, but having Attorney Townsend was a great morale lifting, and one of the best defense attorneys I have been involved with. Believe me folks, Attorney Townsend is very knowledgeable, knows when his client is being railroaded, and certainly is educated into having his client make the correct decisions for the right coarse of action and in their best interest. Although my particular case is upsetting and we both know that the arresting agency utilized questionable and unjustifiable tactics, we both also recognized the coarse of action needed to protect my family. Attorney Townsend's decision for the route we accepted wasn't about running to his next client to make the money, but about what was best for my family and me. What became even more amazing with this gentleman is after my case was completed, this guy still stays in touch with me, and still brings that morale lifting and brings me the confidence that is needed when one goes through such demoralizing circumstances. If anyone would ask me about Steve Townsend I would simply tell them he is NOT only a great defense attorney, but a truly honest and pleasantly honorable gentleman that cares about the people he serves. After making several calls to attorneys in the Pittsburgh area without much luck, I was given Mr. Townsend's number by a friend. The primary problem that I encountered was the combination of a hectic work schedule and living out of state limiting my travel options (most attorneys weren't willing to ...represent me without my traveling to PA).
