My practice focuses on immigration and criminal matters. I provide a full spectrum of immigration-related services including immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, green card applications, and naturalization. With respect to criminal law, having previously worked as an Assistant District Attorney I am able to put to use the invaluable experience I gained representing the government to work exclusively for clients charged with a myriad of crimes in both state and federal courts, including DUI, theft, drug related offenses, white collar and violent crimes.
Regarding the interplay between immigration and criminal law, in 2010, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Padilla v. Commonwealth of Kentucky that criminal defense attorneys must advise noncitizen clients about any potential immigration-related issues that may result from a plea or adverse verdict. Since then, I have successfully advised various immigration related clients who have been charged with criminal offenses on the effects of potential pleas or verdicts to their immigration status. For example, I obtained a not guilty verdict in front of jury in a case where a legal permanent resident client was charged with criminal offenses that had the client been convicted of he would have been placed in removal proceedings.
