Dedicated and Determined CFS/ME Disability Lawyer

If you have had the terrible misfortune of being disabled by CFS/ME (and any of the co-occurring conditions - fibromyalgia, Hashimoto's, small cell fiber neuropathy, dysautonomia, etc.) you need to retain Jason. These conditions are sadly still viewed by many as "yuppie flu" type, subjective non-illn...esses. I can attest that they are nothing but. I was diagnosed with (eventually ALL of) these conditions. Prior to my diagnoses I owned my own law firm and worked up to 10-12 hours a day as a corporate insurance lawyer. The extreme pain, cognitive difficulties, severe fatigue and post-exertional malaise made it impossible for me work anymore. I felt like I was losing everything - my career, my income and my firm. I had a private disability insurance policy that denied coverage on every possible ground it could assert. Jason and his paralegal, Christina Murray, addressed every basis of denial, guided me as to the best way to document my disability, and worked with all of my doctors and my former law partner to overturn the insurance company's denial. They discredited the insurance company's "expert" physician, and found a true independent expert who successfully provided support for my case at a level I could afford. Jason and Christina successfully worked together in effectuating an internal reversal of my denial of benefits, in relatively short order, much to my immeasurable relief and gratitude. This means they convinced the insurance company to overturn its own prior decision! Jason and Christina were also responsive, available and consistently on top of my case. They were empathetic, and understood when I felt too ill to get something back to them in a timely fashion, or failed to return their call. However, what allowed me to stay grounded and hopeful during an incredibly stressful, difficult time in my life (in addition to the fact that I always was completely confident in their work and strategy), was that they believed me and in me. Anyone who suffers from the conditions that I do know this alone is priceless and necessary.

Worth the Price!

I first contacted Jason when it became apparent my multiple sclerosis symptoms were progressing too rapidly to continue a full-time career. He gave me lots of great advice and we were planning to file the paperwork for a partial disability claim. Days before completing the paperwork, however, I... had an acute exacerbation significantly affecting my mobility and the claim became "total and complete" disability. MS can be challenging and many people I know have their claims rejected the first round. One of my policies was an ERISA policy and needed a Social Security application. ALL of my claims were approved FIRST round! (Granted, I had to do my part, but Jason certainly did his!) It has been over 6 years and he continues to help manage my insurers and what information they are entitled to and what isn't relevant. I even tried starting a small business (didn't succeed), but he helped guide me through different scenarios and how they might affect my claim. Though this illness has given me many challenges, one thing I haven't had to worry about is my disability insurance payments. I'm glad to have Jason as my advocate!

Great Attorney

Jason is a great attorney. I'm a physician and he helped me navigate the muddy waters of disability claims. I had own-occupational disability insurance. My family's financial security was at risk from my disease and he was able to get me approved on my claim. After about the first five minutes of... our first phone call, I new he would be my guy. He took me step by step through the claims process. How to organize your medical records, request certain forms from doctors, and how to draft an own occupation job description. It's important for other's to know, since you are filing with giant insurance companies, Jason can represent you even if you are far away from him. Remember, it may cost some $ to hire an attorney, but you have a ton more to loose if your sick, can't work and can't get the resources that are owed to you, I will continue to work with him and have zero reservations of recommending him to anyone.

Disability Expertise

I found Jason Newfield through an internet search for disability lawyers after my initial claim was denied. I spoke to a few disability attorney's but he seemed the most knowledgeable and hands-on (working the case directly versus passing on to junior counsel). He was very thoughtful and professional... and most importantly, was able to successfully resolve the claim. I would highly recommend him for disability issues if you have a similar need.

Mr. Newfield provided expert guidance & support to me during many years of disability coverage. The disability insurer tried to end my claim my times, but thanks to Jason, my claim remained intact. 5 stars and a well deserved Thank you.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter

"I endorse this lawyer's work. Jason and I have opposed each other in several litigations involving claims for disability insurance benefits under individual and group policies. Relatively speaking, there are few lawyers who practice in this "niche" area. Jason's significant experience was evident in each matter as he was well-versed in the applicable law and thoroughly familiar with the details of his client's claim. He was always well-prepared and persistent in trying to advance his client's interests."
