Adam Hurvitz Russ

Adam H. Russ is a partenr at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C., where he is Co-Chair of the firm's Fine Art Law Practice Group, and a member of the firm's Commercial Litigation Department, Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation, Dispute Resolution, Transactions and Regulatory Problem Solving Department, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Department.

Adam is an experienced AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rated litigator.  He has been selected to the 2013 - 2015, and 2021 - 2024 New York Metro Super Lawyers lists.  Adam has litigated and arbitrated matters for clients throughout the United States.

Adam represents clients in a wide range of state and federal suits, arbitrations, and mediations involving insurance runoff and agency disputes, art ownership, authenticity, and title disputes, complex contract and commercial claims, business torts, declaratory actions, bad faith and insurance/reinsurance coverage claims, real-estate disputes, wrongful termination and employment matters, and estate litigation.

Adam has prosecuted and defended actions for clients in a variety of industries, including insurance, art dealers/auctions, title insurance, electronics, technology, manufacturing, banking, health care, real estate, construction, and sanitation.

He has litigated various types of cases from class actions and multi-jurisdictional complex commercial cases to simple collection matters. In addition, Adam provides clients with pre-litigation advice and strategic planning, he conducts and supervises all aspects of litigation including pre-litigation investigations, discovery, alternative dispute resolution, motion practice, trials, and settlement negotiations. Adam recently successfully arbitrated a matter and, following a hearing, he obtained a $1.125 million award for his client, a ceding insurance company, against a reinsurer who refused to pay its share of certain losses and related expenses. In addition, the arbitration panel awarded Adam's client interest, attorneys' fees, and other damages.

Mr. Russ also performs a broad range of legal activities in areas complementary to his litigation practice, such as commercial and business transactions, including corporate formation, acquisition and governance, purchases and sales of assets, insurance agency and claims administration agreements, leasing and the purchase and sale of real estate, and estate administration and probate.  Recently, Adam represented a property and casualty insurer and reinsurer in connection with the sale, transfer, and reinsurance of another insurer's specialty property book of business to a managing general agent.

Mr. Russ graduated from the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana) with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and from DePaul University College of Law with a Juris Doctor dehree.
