Audrey A. Thomas

AUDREY A. THOMAS, ESQ., is truly a Renaissance woman with a wholesome childlike spirit!  

Mrs. Thomas graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 2000 where she earned a Juris Doctor Degree; Brooklyn College in 1997 where she earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration; St. Francis College in 1995 where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice; Blake Business School in 1989 where she earned a Degree in Business and George W. Wingate High School in 1987 after acquiring the General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).   

Mrs. Thomas is credited with contributing to the setting of the New York State Criminal standard of review for suppression of evidence in cases involving search of the person, seizure of evidence and pursuit of the individual, in that, she successfully litigated these issues before the Honorable Justice Goldberg in the Supreme Court of the State of New York Kings County. Thereafter, Audrey wrote the winning briefs that were presented to the Appellate Division Second Department and, the New York State Court of Appeals after the Kings County District Attorney’s Office appealed Justice Goldberg’s decision. 

The Appellate Division affirmed Justice Goldberg’s decision and the New York State Court of Appeals denied the District Attorney’s application for leave to appeal further.  This resulted in an absolute victory for Mrs. Thomas’ client, Mr. Arden Cadle.  Ultimately, Mrs. Thomas’ tremendous efforts resulted in the now precedential ruling in the case of People v. Cadle.  

People v. Cadle, sets forth the standard for suppression of evidence, in cases involving search of the person, seizure of evidence and pursuit of the individual  and serves as a guide for her colleagues with reference to New York State gun cases.  See, People v Cadle 2010 NY Slip Op 01810 [71 AD3d 689] March 2, 2010 Appellate Division, Second Department Published by New York State Law Reporting Bureau pursuant to Judiciary Law § 431. People v. Cadle is a landmark case because it affords defendants the opportunity to effectively challenge the illegal pursuit, search, and, seizure of their persons.  Despite its tremendous significance, Mrs. Thomas humbly declares that prior results does not guarantee future outcome and she merely did for Mr. Cadle, what all attorneys are required to do, represented her client’s interest zealously.

Audrey Thomas was named, Community Woman of the Year for 2014 by Halfway Tree Association Inc.; Mother of the year for 2014 by Wake Up Radio, with Carl B. Moxie and she was the recipient of the Linkage Award for the Best Legal Program for 2014.

Audrey has been featured on the prestigious TV program, Profiles with Ian Boyne, TVJ Studios Jamaica WI; Video Alley with Suzie Q. Mrs. Thomas has been interviewed by the Jamaican Observer’s Journalist Howard Campbell, and she was the subject of an impressive article printed in Street Hype Magazine, New York, NY. 

She has also been the guest speaker at several Churches, Intellectual forums, and various Community meetings.

However, Mrs. Thomas declares that she is most proud of the fact that she was recently conferred the honor of being the Keynote speaker for the graduating class of 2014 of Public School 189 of Brooklyn, NY, her alma mater.

PRESENT EMPLOYMENT:

Mrs. Thomas runs a general practice law firm in Queens County known as THE LAW OFFICES OF AUDREY A. THOMAS, PC, at 245-07 Francis Lewis Blvd, Rosedale, NY 11422).

She serves as the co-host of the Empowerment Hour Radio Show on with Debbie Cort, Steven Metcalf, Esq., Javien Forbes, Andrew Stoll, Esq., DJ Wild, Tatiana Coy, Breanna Coy, Sean-Patrick Coy and Richard Littlejohn the Engineer.

Mrs. Thomas is also the Editor in Chief of Magazine, the CEO of the back office service company known as The Empowerment Center LLC, and she sits on the Executive Board for ILoveNow, Inc.  

PAST EMPLOYMENT:

Prior to the above, Mrs. Thomas worked under the tutelage of the Honorable Charles Joseph Hynes, her former boss, Professor and mentor, as an Assistant District Attorney in the Office of The District Attorney Kings County (2000-2004).
