He was referred to me by the Queens Bar Association. He broke down the retainer into 3 phases which each had a ceiling of maximum out of pocket expense. I paid for the 1st phase at $1500 which was the negotiating phase but he never asked for additional money to enter into the next phase into the ver...y end( after 2 months) after the damage was caused. Both in correspondence and in phone conversations he threatened the landlord with litigation if he did not remedy the damages , however, never followed through with an actual lawsuit. It was empty threats, more like bluffs that weakened my position with the landlord. When negotiating with the landlord was falling apart, he told me to hold back rent in a commercial lease which was clearly prohibited per the lease. He held the rent in his escrow account which the landlord did not give consent for and this further worsened my relationship with landlord. Overall I felt I was misled, I didn't appreciate his arrogance, his lack of regard and concern for my well-being. Instead of trying to help my situation he worsened it.
