Dennis Francis Dowd is the son of an elementary school teacher and a former NYPD Detective. He is a graduate of Chaminade High School and attended Marist College on a partial scholarship. While at Marist he was a fly-half on the college's rugby team, a member of the student government, and wrote for the campus's newspaper. He graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Journalism After graduating, he entered Hofstra Law School.
Graduating in 2001, he began his legal career at the Wall Street law firm of Leahy and Johnson, P. C.. In 2002, he joined the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. During his nearly eight years, Dennis handled serious violent felonies as well as White Collar Crimes. During his tenure, he was promoted to Senior Assistant District Attorney and was assigned to the Narcotics, Major Crimes, and Insurance Fraud Bureaus. In 2009, he left to establish his own criminal defense practice.
Since 2009, Dennis has represented clients charged with homicide, attempted murder, and assault, as narcotics offenses and Driving While Intoxicated. He handles cases in federal and state courts in the five boroughs and Long Island.
