I had the fortune of finding Michael T. Mullen’s web page after searching for Brooklyn criminal defense lawyers. I received a police summons to the 62th precinct because a tall 14 year old teenager accused me of pushing in down on the ground and threatening his life after failing to pick up his dog ...dropping several times in front of my house. I learned that it was best to hire an attorney to go talk to the police on your behalf to avoid self-incrimination and to avoid the central booking process. Michael represented me from the beginning of this case to the very end. He talked to the police detective and got me a desk appearance ticket instead of me having to sit in a jail cell for central booking for weeks. After the arraignment, the original plea deal called for an assault in the 3rd degree conviction, 20 days of community service, and 5 conflict resolution classes. Michael is persistent and would never take the first deal which would have left me with a criminal record and a rap sheet. After a few adjournments, Michael talked to the district attorney and convinced him to dismiss all the criminal charges and reduce the sentencing down to a disorderly conduct violation, a $175 fine that goes with the violation, 5 days of community service, and one conflict resolution class. Michael is honest, knows the best course of action to take, and puts his clients first over making money. Instead of taking an expensive attorney fee for trial which would have had bad results due to the fact that a 14 year old is involved and the DA could use this angle to give me a worse sentence, Michael advised me to take the deal he made because the deal produced a better outcome than the sentencing that have happened at a trial with a jury which would have favored the 14 year old. Overall, I am pleased with Michael and would highly recommend his legal services to anyone charged with a crime or in search of legal representation.
