We thought when our offer was accepted that we had made it through the hardest part of buying an apartment in Brooklyn. As first time buyers, we were now in even less familiar territory (they don’t show these parts on HGTV afterall) and we needed trustworthy advice. Apryl was wonderful throughout the... entire process – from the moment I reached out she was very forthcoming about the each step of the process/timelines/financial expectations and provided helpful guidance on what to look for in a mortgage provider. She speaks in lay terms (no lawyer jargon here!), is very direct and will patiently answer your questions, all while maintaining her easy going demeanor and humor. However, what I valued most was that you can tell she has been through it all – she would let us know what is standard, unusual, or a red flag. We encountered a few abnormal experiences with the mortgage/appraisal process, and even had to delay the closing due to a leak that caused damage to our apartment – Apryl ensured things ran as smooth as possible through all of this and built in long-term financial protections related to the damage. I have already recommended her to several of my friends!

As a first time home-buyer, Apryl was the best part of the whole process (no seriously everything between making an offer and closing just sucks). Apryl represented me across two deals while purchasing my Brookyn co-op. She is tough and tells you like how it is. I was nearly in contract on my fir...st deal when we noticed some concerning issues in the meeting minutes (Monique did a very thorough job). I asked Apryl to add in some protection for me in the contract. Apryl worked hard to get some language that would work for both of us but in the end the other party wasn't willing to compromise. I could tell this was a bad sign and wisely chose to walk away. I appreciated how Apryl had my back and wasn't pushing me to be in-contract or close. My second deal went much smoother. With each document she sent over (and there are many...), Apryl summarized the major points in each PARAGRAPH and boiled it down to language that the layperson can understand. She was very accessible via text or email and was willing to draft together a last-minute Power of Attorney in case I was called out-of-town when closing was scheduled. All-in-all, just an awesome human being. I can't wait to save enough pennies for the next place so she could represent me again.

Apryl Hand was our lawyer for a complicated and drawn-out New York City cooperative purchase. If not for her expertise, responsiveness and dedication to get us to closing the deal would have fallen through a number of times. Apryl got us through it all - explaining our options at each step, keeping ...us from making expensive concessions, and hand holding when we needed it - to the point of editing some of our communications.
