Biography

Barbie D. Lieber , of Lieber & Lieber, LLP, treats her clients with dignity and compassion. Her interpersonal skills and knowledge help to ease the anxiety felt by many of her clients, particularly those clients who are undergoing enormous financial stress or other types of stress. The legal process can be daunting and Ms. Lieber does everything she can do to make it stress free. She takes prides on being very approachable and available to her clients. Barbie D. Lieber is head of the Firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditor & Debtor Rights and Collections practice and Commercial and Employment Litigation practice, and co-head of the Firm's Real Estate and Employment/Benefits practices. She began her career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Cornelius J. Blackshear of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. She was previously associated with Tenzer Greenblatt LLP, Luskin Stern & Eisler and White & Case LLP. Ms. Lieber received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Stony Brook (B.S., 1984, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society) and her law degree from SUNY Buffalo, (J.D., 1987, with honors). Ms. Lieber is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Bruce J. Lieber, of Lieber & Lieber, LLP, is head of the Firm’s Corporate/Business practice and co-head of the Firm’s Real Estate and Employment/Benefits practices. He was previously Counsel to Dechert LLP. Prior to that, he was associated with Olwine, Connelly, Chase, O’Donnell & Weyher and before that Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon. Mr. Lieber received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Albany (B.S., 1982, magna cum laude) and his law degree from SUNY Buffalo, (J.D., 1985, with honors), where he was a member of the Buffalo Law Review. Mr. Lieber is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is on its Legal Referral Panel for Corporate, Contracts and Real Estate Law.

Chapter 7 Success!

I was $80k in credit card and personal loan debt after a contentious divorce. I had an income higher than the means test would allow, but child expenses let us go Chapter 7 instead of 13. No other NYC bankruptcy lawyer I spoke with thought this was possible during their consult, but after looking a...t my budget based on actual expenses from the last year she said we could go for Chapter 7. Calls stopped two days after we filed. She prepped me for the 341 meeting really well. My case was pulled by the US Trustee so I had a lot of extra questions in my 341 and they closed the meeting! Waiting for discharge now and I feel like I won the lottery. So amazing.

Fabulous Bankruptcy Attorney

Barbie and her team were phenomenal! Reliable, AVAILABLE, straightforward bankruptcy lawyer

Just about the time I thought my financial problem was hopeless, and my financial situation was like a train running full speed into a concrete wall. luckily I came across Bankruptcy Atty. Barbie's profile. and on that day she was the only one who returned my call herself , ( other atty.'s offices to...ok few days to call back to schedule an appointment). Barbie (herself) called back the same day.Nov 22, 2019. And I would never forget this, because this was the day my life turn around for the better! On this first call, Barbie and I spent probably two hours as I tell her my situation, and she explaining to me what the best thing to do was specially as I was about start my career in nursing. On that very day, we filed for bankruptcy chapter 13. THAT FAST. Atty. Barbie made me feel she was just as eager as I am to get out of the mess as soon as possible! I'm so thankful to trust Atty. Barbie and followed Barbie's advises, & guidance. At my most desperate time, I had literally nothing else to lose. Atty. Barbie worked with what I have at that time. I did not think any other lawyer would still be on the phone after learning I don't even have enough to afford to file yet. I'm grateful for the "stress free" bankruptcy experience. plus the human compassion I felt. I knew if I were to get out of the financial mess I got myself into, I had to follow all of what Atty. barbie instructed. and throughout the process barbie was available when I had questions. during the meetings at the court. you can be confident that atty. barbie prepared everything we could possibly need for the meeting to go smoothly, and when she says the actual meeting is about 5 mins long, its 5 mins long! don't overfeed your parking meter. Also she made sure I was ready for the 341 meeting. where to go, who to look for, what to say, what to bring, and how much money for the fee. and after that 5 min 341 meeting, barbie called to follow up. during the confirmation court date, same thing. crystal clear instructions. Last week Atty. Barbie called to let me know that it's done. I got approved! and told me how the hearing went and she mentioned to the judge the fact that I'm a nurse who just started my career. and the judge expressed his appreciation for what I do during these challenging times. I cannot thank Barbie enough! she's MY HERO for getting me out of the nightmare i was living . I recommend her if you're looking for reliable, AVAILABLE, no BS, straight forward lawyer during the scariest most stressful time in your life. Ch 13 Bankruptcy

Barbie Lieber is my life saver. Simply put. When everything was going wrong and I needed help with my finances on top of it - out of around 10 attorneys I consulted, and several debt relief/consolidation vultures, she was the right one for me - very caring, direct, personable and incredibly knowledge...able. Her credentials are strong and she has vast experience in the bankruptcy field. With her 30+ years of experience in big law, clerking for the judges, and working with individuals such as myself, she was the only one that asked ALL the right questions and she provided the appropriate solutions for my financial situation that would actually help me paycheck to paycheck and not further drown me in debt. She saved me thousands. I can breathe again without feeling like I failed at life by filing for the Chapter 13 bankruptcy. I was so desperate I even reached out to a debt relief company - never again. They said I was stupid for reorganizing my debt via a CH 13 or even CH 7 (when I was misinformed by another attorney, that could be another option). Another plus, amongst many, Barbie is incredibly accessible and I never waited more than an hour for a response, if that long. With all the clients she juggles, she still makes it so you feel like you are the most important one when you have her attention and you get a sense of she definitely knows what she is doing, she won’t let you sink.
