My focus is on publishing and entertainment transactions. I counsel authors, agents, producers, composers, literary estates and publishing professionals on copyright, licensing, fair use, defamation, privacy, and trademark matters. I also vet book manuscripts prior to publication for legal risks and risk management. Before attending law school, I was Director of Publicity for Prentice Hall Press, a division of Simon & Schuster. My pro bono activities include serving on the Beacon Press and Center for Independent Publishing advisory boards. I’m coauthor of the Copyright Permission & Libel Handbook (John Wiley & Sons). I've also written numerous articles for the Authors Guild Bulletin, Publishers Weekly, and other publications. I've lectured extensively on intellectual property law and related maters for authors and publishers, and was an adjunct professor at the NYU SPS Center for Publishing.
I earned my law degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and I am admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey. Memberships include the Trademark & Unfair Competition Committee of the Bar of the City of New York and The Authors Guild.
Before forming my own firm, I was an associate at Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman, a nationally prominent intellectual property firm where I worked with clients in the publishing, television, music, fashion, and character licensing industries. Prior, I was an attorney in the law department of Viacom Enterprises, a division of Viacom International, the world's largest independent distributor of feature films and off-network television programming.
With a long history in the publishing and entertainment fields, clients gain access to all of the knowledge, counsel, and advocacy that my firm can provide.
