Replied last June 20, 2025Unless a client pays, legal services will not be performed. A client’s wish for certain legal services or tasks may be precluded or prohibited by the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Rules of Professional Conduct, or the Rules of Civility. Further, strategy differences may develop between a client and the attorney. The main purpose of the power of attorney paragraph in the standard contract is to give the attorney power to endorse a check from an insurance company, made payable to the client, and deposit the check into the attorney trust account. Then, a check from the attorney trust account is paid to the client for the net proceeds, after the legal fee is deducted.
