When I first contacted Katie, I was dealing with a very unique situation. I was being threatened with UCMJ action over a security clearance matter. I was a wreck when I first called her, because Base Legal told me that they would not help me until I had charges brought against me. Katie Cherkasky is an excellent military law attorney. I hired Cherkasky law when I was falsely accused of a crime that had been dismissed by local authorities as false. Words cannot express my gratitude for all of the help Katherine Cherkasky provided me during my nightmare. Looking for lawyers has literally been the scariest process I've ever had to do. But they can do so much and they will not stick their neck out for you because they work for the people who are going after you. The Cherkasky's are civilians and can do way more than the military defense councel can or will. I cannot count how many times my leadership tried messing with me, only to get a phone call from Katie and completely change their directon. Not only that but the rebuttals Katie writes are out of this world. My First Sergeant actually asked me, "Where'd you find these Cherkasky's?" He proceeded to tell me that Katie called him about leave (that was going to be denied) that I requested. And that she bust out an AFI over the phone and had him confused. After she got off the phone with him, I recieved a phone call from my supervisor who said I could take leave and that it was approved. Katie didn't even tell me she did that, all she said was that she took care of it. She is a BOSS and they HUSTLE THE GAME. Please hire the Cherkasky's if you are facing any kind of punishment from any branch in the military.

After meeting with the on base Area Defense Counsel I quickly realized I was going to need more help than that office could provide. Katie and Andrew Cherkasky were on the phone with me within hours of me reaching out and quickly started advising me of my different options. I ultimately decided to ...accept and Article 15 forum over court martial. Initially, I wondered if paying for legal advice for responding to an Article 15 would be worth it. Now that the process has come to a close I can tell you it was WORTH EVERY PENNY. Katie worked to get me an extension for my response and then was in constant dialogue with me to work on several different versions until I was happy with the final product. The government had everything that needed against me to make the charges stick. Thanks to the legal response put together on my behalf I was able to get one charge thrown out. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my initial fee also covered my legal response for the appeal process. The bottom line is that it was extremely helpful and reassuring through this entire process to have a legal expert I could quickly get trusted advice from. When security clearance issues came up Katie was able to answer several of my questions directly. When issues got outside her realm of expertise she helped me get a free consult with a colleague who exclusively worked clearance cases.
