There are few things in life more frightening than being arrested. And yet, on one cold Sunday morning that is exactly what happened to me! I was awoken by a loud rapping at my door. There stood three plainclothes policemen who greeted me with their badges and “suggested” that I accompany them to... their precinct for questioning. The next thing I knew I was in handcuffs being hauled downtown to a holding cell where I would stay, awaiting my arraignment before a judge. I was being accused of a crime – a felony, no less – that I did not commit. In less than twenty-four hours, my life had been turned completely upside down. In October of 2012 I was pulled over by the NYPD and charged with an Aggravated DWI in New York City. I refused the breath test and took the case to trial.
