Joseph Potashnik

I hired Joseph Potashnick after interviewing several other lawyers, and would hire him again. At one point, I was offered a plea to a much reduced charge, and another attorney strongly reccomended that I take the plea becasue it would not involve the risk of loss of my license to practice law. I to...ld Joe that I was prepared to take the plea, but he advised that I ride it out and press for a dismissal or an ACD. He advised this in spite of the fact that it would have involved significantly more work for him and no additional fee, since his fee had already been fully earned. Eventually, I received an ACD and ;paid him a bonus for his work. He is an honest workaholic, and the kind of advocate someone in a difficult spot needs.

NYS Law Judge wrote Mr. Potashnik a letter urging him to return the unauthorized fee he charged me with proof of this sent to judge's office. His website said he had experience with unemployment insurance matters. He charged me a fee upfront, which I now know indicated that he had never handled thi...s kind of matter. Or if he did, he charged his clients unlawful fees. He never discussed details of my case and told me he was busy, my case was simple, and he had other clients. At the hearing he was totally unprepared and I lost. Thankfully, I have been granted the opportunity to plead my case again, because of my lack of having qualifed counsel in Mr. Potashnik. He did return to fee immediately upon receipt of Judge's letter. He should have been upfront and honest about his lack of experience.

The staff without judgment or bias allowed me to explain my version of events that lead to arrest and offered then explained my options.
