Severance Agreement Negotiation following an unexpected RIF in Financial Services Industry

I recently had the pleasure of working with Hugh Baran during a challenging period of my career when I was affected by a sudden and unexpected reduction in force (RIF) at my former employer, a top tier global bank. Hugh was recommended to me by a close friend who was in the financial services indust...ry (buy side) and had also recently been in a similar position. Given this was my first experience after 30 years in the industry, navigating the complexities of my severance agreement seemed daunting at first, but Hugh made the entire process seamless and stress-free. From our initial consultation, Hugh displayed exceptional knowledge and expertise in employment law. He took the time to thoroughly understand my situation and provided clear, concise explanations of my rights and options. His strategic approach and keen attention to detail ensured that every aspect of my severance agreement was thoroughly reviewed and negotiated to my best advantage. What truly personally sets Hugh apart is their dedication and personal touch. He was always available to answer my questions, promptly returned my calls and emails, and kept me informed at every step. He provided multiple channels of communication and was courteous with my time. Hugh’s professionalism and genuine concern for my well-being were evident throughout our interactions. Thanks to Hugh’s skillful negotiation, I received a severance package that met my expectations. His guidance and support was invaluable during this transition period, and I am incredibly grateful for his assistance. I highly recommend Hugh Baran to anyone in need of expert legal counsel for employment matters. His commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for their clients is unparalleled. Thank you, Hugh, for your outstanding service and for turning a difficult situation into a positive experience.

Client focused attorney

My friend referred me to Hugh as she was the opposing counsel in a case for one of her company's employees. For her to state, " I didn't hate going against him", that was all I needed to know to consider to explore a consultation. Hugh listened carefully to my concerns, specifically on what I was ho...ping to get out of my separation. When reviewing my agreement, he also made sure to add extra language to protect my future. We met on zoom to establish that client relationship as well. The good news was that the in house counsel accepted all his recommendations and changes in a pretty short amount of time! Hugh was very transparent with me on other options, ensuring that I receive the most successful outcome, which I appreciate. Hugh excels in communicating updates throughout this process and alleviated frustrations of this journey. I hope to use him soon for reviewing future employment opportunities.
