Paul D'Emilia

Paul D’Emilia has practiced law for more than 30 years, both as a prosecutor in New York City, at the United States Department of Justice, and in private practice as a criminal defense attorney.

Mr. D’Emilia began his law career as a prosecutor at the Kings County District Attorney’s office. During his 14 years there, he tried dozens of felony cases and conducted numerous homicide trials and investigations. He rose to Bureau Chief and Counsel to the Trial Division. Serving as a supervisor in almost every major bureau, he trained, advised and evaluated hundreds of prosecutors and attorneys.

During his tenure with the U.S. Department of Justice as a Resident Legal Advisor in Albania, Mr. D’Emilia initiated and brought to successful conclusion the first ever extradition and conviction of an Albanian citizen accused of homicide of an American in the United States.

As a criminal defense attorney in private practice, Mr. D’Emilia has tried and settled numerous cases including homicides, high-profile white-collar cases, international clients, and the full-range of felony and misdemeanor allegations.

Mr. D’Emilia, a graduate of Fordham Law School, is a member of the New York Bar Association, teaches trial advocacy classes, and has lectured internationally on the US criminal justice system.

He is admitted in all New York State courts, the Eastern District and Southern District of New York, and the Second Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals.
