She's the best!

Hillary has been my attorney for several years now to help our son with autism. She started out helping with his IEP, and then we went back for guardianship, estate planning and adult services. I know I can always count on her to help guide us in the right direction!

Huge Disappointment

Terrible experience with someone our family initially trusted and believed in. We found Hillary to be lacking in understanding of our daughters unique and complex needs. We felt she never quite fully understood the nature of how her specific illness and disability were being ignored in her school dis...trict and how her IEP was not being upheld. She seemed to understand when speaking on the phone but would follow up with written guidance that bore little resemblance to our verbal communication ultimately giving counsel that wasn’t relevant or missed the mark. Consistently citing all of her ‘big’ cases as reference to her capabilities but missing relevant and complex details of ours we eventually parted ways. I felt little accountability to her own shortcomings and never felt we were engaged in a partnership with a commitment to understanding our needs. Had we been treated with respect I wouldn’t feel compelled to review here. As a mother of a significant child, I urge families to meet with several lawyers before selecting one, having a family member with a disability does not make you competent and she certainly proved it doesn't make you professional.

I am truly sorry you had a poor experience with me. I am not sure who you are but certainly invite you to call me to explain why you felt this way. This process can be stressful for families and I always strive to make people feel as comfortable as possible throughout the process, so if I did something to make you feel differently, I would like to learn from that to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Excellent Attorney

I contacted Ms. Freeman about an IEP issue. She did a great job fighting for my son. She is, by far, the most experienced education lawyer in New Jersey.

Awesome Outcome

After years of struggling academically and socially in the public school, it became evident that our son needed an out-of-district placement. Our school district continually failed to provide a FAPE and after limited progress with one attorney, we sought help from Hillary Freeman. Hillary was able... to help us sort through the issues we were faced with and helped us to maintain a clear focus. Our district continued to be unwilling to work with us and we had to go through due process. Although due process was an extremely difficult thing to have to go through, Hillary did an outstanding job with all of the details of our case and presented them clearly to the OAL judge. The judge determined that the district continually failed to provide a FAPE. We had an extremely favorable outcome from the due process hearing. During the process, Hillary took the time to get to know our son and our family. She is smart, detail-oriented, realistic, and caring.

Thankful

Hillary Freeman provided peace to our daughter with Down Syndrome and our entire family. Her expertise our beyond other lawyers within this field. She provides clear guidance, strong understanding of the law, and emotional support during these hard times. Our family is thankful for the fight which Hi...llary took on as her own family member and with the care she had for our daughters rights.
