Elaine is very knowledgeable about actual immigration law. She was responsible about returning my calls and letting me know what she needed from me within a reasonable amount of time. But she gave me some bad advice a few times. While I was waiting for a decision on my case, I was arrested and convic...ted. She knew this, but she told me I could become a citizen less than five years after my conviction--until I reminded her I had a conviction, and then she changed her advice and said I would have to wait a little longer. She also told me I would definitely not be called for an immigration interview, and I was. I found out later from another immigration legal organization that I should have always been expecting to be called for an interview, due to my conviction issue. Finally, I found out that my conviction could lead to me getting deported, but Elaine never told me that possibility. When I asked her about it, she said she would have to check on it. When I went for my immigration interview, she never warned me that I could be put in deportation proceedings. I started to wonder what important information she might be leaving out whenever I talked to her.
