Nan Gallagher has devoted her career exclusively to the advocacy of healthcare professionals and entities. An accomplished healthcare litigation and administrative attorney, she focuses her practice on licensing, regulatory and credentialing matters in New Jersey and New York, all facets of administrative professional discipline, licensure actions, medical malpractice defense, medical staff/hospital governance matters, general counsel services, state and specialty Medical Society representation, bylaws drafting and analyses, hospital summary suspensions and other fair hearings, hospital investigations, credentialing application services, employment and labor disputes and counseling, NJLAD, governmental and commercial health insurance carrier audits and appeals, billing and coding counseling and disputes, OIG and OIFP investigations, cybersecurity, online persona counseling, ERISA & State appeals and litigations, carrier disputes, and HIPAA and regulatory compliance counseling. She is also a prolific presenter (live and webinar) and article writer/contributor on groundbreaking healthcare related topics affecting licensed professionals within the Tri-State area. In addition to her many articles on a vast array of healthcare issues, she is frequently invited to be a contributing author to such national publications as Physician Risk Management and the ED Legal Letter. For the better part of two decades, Ms. Gallagher has represented physicians, physician assistants, podiatrists, therapists, dentists, chiropractors, nurses, veterinarians, medical practices, whole medical staffs, residents, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, pharmacies, blood banks, and laboratories in all phases of licensing, insurance, credentialing, regulatory, and professional negligence and counseling matters. Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Gallagher was one of a select few awarded a United States Presidential Fellowship from President Bill Clinton to study law abroad at La Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Fordham University, where she double-majored in English and Spanish. After earning her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School, she served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Mahlon L. Fast, J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, Civil Division.
Her professional memberships include the New Jersey State Bar Association (Health Law Section), New York State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, Morris County Bar Association, and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Gallagher is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, the District of Columbia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Since 2001, Ms. Gallagher has served as a Barrister with the William J. Brennan American Inn of Court, educating and training young lawyers on the hallmarks of professional responsibility and the fundamentals of effective civil litigation. Annually, she is invited to return to serve as a volunteer judge in the New York Law School Annual Moot Court Competition.
Ms. Gallagher is the Founder of The Nan Gallagher Law Group, LLC, a boutique healthcare law firm with offices in Morristown and Manhattan. She leads a robust team of lawyers and professionals.
