John M. Tassillo Jr.

John M. Tassillo, Jr. is the founder of The Law Office of John M. Tassillo, Jr., LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. His areas of concentration include trust and estates, business and succession planning for closely held entities, and estate controversy matters, with a particular emphasis on estate planning and estate administration matters.

Mr. Tassillo received his undergraduate degree from Adelphi University in New York (summa cum laude - Accounting), which he attended on full-tuition scholarship. He earned his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a member of the Columbia Business Law Review and received his masters of law (LL.M) in taxation from New York University. Mr. Tassillo has been practicing law for over seventeen years and is currently admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. He began his career as a tax accountant with Arthur Young in New York City.

Mr. Tassillo is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and has been recognized by the leadership of the NJSCPA for his efforts specifically in the career development of young accountants. He was formerly the Chair of the NJSCPA Young CPA’s Committee; this committee is dedicated to the education and career development of young Certified Public Accountants. He assisted the NJSCPA and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and was a moderator of the AICPA New Member Forum, a two-day conference sponsored by the leadership of the AICPA in Phoenix, Arizona. He has also participated in the AICPA New Member Forum in Orlando, Florida.

Mr. Tassillo is a member of the NJSCPA Estate, Trust & Gift Taxation Interest Group, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Furthermore, he has been a member of the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals.

Mr. Tassillo is presently an Adjunct Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he teaches Estate Planning to financial planners in FDU’s Professional Education Program, and teaches Estate and Gift Taxation in FDU’s Masters of Taxation Program. He frequently lectures CPAs and other professionals and has been published in several prestigious journals on estate planning and other related tax matters.
