Jaime Anne O'Brien

Jaime was my lawyer during a very drawn out separation and divorce. Throughout the entire process, she made herself available to me for anything I needed and always made me feel as if my emotions were justified - it was very important to me that we all understood although this was a judicial proceedi...ng, that we remembered our humanity. She excels at her profession and is intelligent and a force to be reckoned with. I am definitely glad she was on MY side, and I am certain that anyone else choosing to use Jaime will agree.

Choosing an attorney can be easy. Choosing the right attorney is not. Jaime O'Brien represented me in my complicated divorce that involved splitting assets, 3 dependent children and alimony. Not only did she clearly explain the process, she also informed me of what I could expect along the way. These... were not easy conversations to have, and her sensitivity to that was incredibly helpful. At the same time, she did not sugarcoat anything-I sincerely appreciated that. She was successful in negotiating a settlement that was best for all parties, and she did that without having to go to trial. The bonus in all of this great work was that Jaime's billable hours were more than fair. In fact, I could not have found a better value. I had the "opportunity" to call on Jaime's services again a few years later. My ex had decided to quietly live with her significant other, while continuing to collect alimony. Naturally, this went against the agreed upon terms of our divorce. However, proving this allegation is virtually impossible, but Jaime put together a very strategic outline of what was needed in order to offer proof to a judge. To this day, I still do not understand how she accomplished the "impossible." Generally speaking, I did not like lawyers; however, there is nothing to dislike about Jaime O'Brien. Jaime O'Brien provided legal counsel to me for my fairly complicated divorce. At the outset, she guided me through a collaborative process in which my ex and I tried to work with a mediator to come to an agreement in order to avoid having the court make the important decisions for us. When my ex deci...ded he did not want to mediate, Jaime represented me in direct negotiations with my ex and his lawyer. She walked me through each step and provided counsel about the different considerations, helping me understand the law and whether there was any legal precedent or how a judge might view each element of my situation as I considered the difficult decisions that needed to be made. She also noted the times when it would be difficult to predict what a judge might decide, since there are rules but not a lot of precedent. My situation was complicated and Jaime helped me figure out how to resolve an unusual alimony and child support arrangement. In addition, my ex's lawyer was a bit aggressive and Jaime held her own and worked very professionally with opposing counsel. Jaime's office and staff were also very supportive, professional and prompt and provided excellent services. I felt that I was in good hands with a seasoned divorce lawyer who was always calm and reasonable and “in my corner.”
