Jaime Anne O'Brien

Jaime A. O’Brien has been a practicing attorney for more than twenty years. After several years of combining civil litigation and family law, Ms. O’Brien chose to focus her practice entirely in family law. Ms. O’Brien joined her present firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2009. Simon O’Brien & Knapp has received a designation in Family Law as one of the “Best Law Firms in America” by U.S. News and World Report for the past three years.

Ms. O’Brien is a graduate of Fordham University, where she received a B.A. degree and the Distinguished Graduate Award in Social Sciences. She attended Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, N.J. Ms. O’Brien served as an editor of the Rutgers Law Review, and graduated in 1986, receiving the Class of 1986 Award for Legal Writing. Following graduation, Ms. O’Brien served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Florence R. Peskoe, Superior Court of New Jersey.

Ms. O’Brien is a past President of the Summit Bar Association. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Morris County Bar Association. She serves as a panelist for the Family Law Early Settlement Panel Program in Morris County and is a certified Family Law Mediator. Ms. O’Brien is also trained as a collaborative divorce attorney and is a member of the New Jersey Collaborative Law Group.

Ms. O’Brien has in depth experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce litigation, trials and appeals, mediation, collaborative divorce, custody, parenting time and visitation, spousal support, child support, division of property, allocation of college expenses, parental relocation, civil unions and prenuptial agreements. Ms. O’Brien is committed to working closely with clients to achieve positive and practical solutions in their family law matters.
