Don't just go to any divorce lawyer. Interview a few. Include Mike as one of them. I did not do that. I ended up with two previous lawyers. Careful of the firms that call themselves "matrimonial firms" or they "specialize in family law only." This probably means they have no other experience. ...I learned that in a divorce you need a lawyer with lots of experience in different areas of the law. Mike had that experience. Then I met Mike. I was referred to him by a friend. How refreshing, Mike is a lawyer who gave me his cell phone number. A lawyer who returned a phone call. A lawyer who returned a text. A lawyer who I felt was the epitome of the word "counselor." We talked things through. He helped me tamp down the anger and make rational decisions. Mike was very fair on his fees. Mike sat down and explained the retainer agreement was. He worked with me. The other two lawyers threw a piece of paper in front of me and told me to sign it. Mike's bills laid out what he did for his money. I didn't have to guess what the "T/C" was about. Mike gave a synopsis under each bill. My first two lawyers just sent me a bill. I had no idea what they did, other than a code and a time amount, with no synopsis. Mike sent me correspondence to review before he sent it out. Mike copied me with every correspondence that went in or out of his office. i had to beg my other attorneys for copies. I was part of the process, not just the audience.

I met Mr. Speck back in 2012. Since that time he has represented me in Municipal Court for several different matters to include but not limited to DUI, traffic and ordinance violations. My husband and I retained Mike after numerous failed attempts to resolve post divorce judgements costing a fortune with 2 previous lawyers. Mike was kind, compassionate and above all, knew the urgency in resolving our issues, even making himself available on Sunday's because we were dealing with a ch...ild custody issue. A $5,000 retainer was requested to represent us in a legal business matter. Mr. Speck submitted an initial reponse to the court and attended the initial court hearing. We gave Mr. Speck an additional $7,500.00 to file a motion with the court. One week after the additional funds were secured by Mr.... Speck, we were suspicious that our case was not being handled with any sense of urgency and we fired him. We have still to see a bill for any work done and it has been 14 months since we hired him!!! Be cautious!

I had to file bankruptcy in order to keep my home. I fell on hard times and dealing with the mortgage company became impossible. As the mortgage company was trying to sell my house out from under me Mike stepped in and everything came to a halt. Mike has been professional, knowledgeable, efficient... and the most helpful thru the entire process.
