Don't just go to any divorce lawyer. Interview a few. Include Mike as one of them. I did not do that. I ended up with two previous lawyers. Careful of the firms that call themselves "matrimonial firms" or they "specialize in family law only." This probably means they have no other experience. ...I learned that in a divorce you need a lawyer with lots of experience in different areas of the law. Mike had that experience. Then I met Mike. I was referred to him by a friend. How refreshing, Mike is a lawyer who gave me his cell phone number. A lawyer who returned a phone call. A lawyer who returned a text. A lawyer who I felt was the epitome of the word "counselor." We talked things through. He helped me tamp down the anger and make rational decisions. Mike was very fair on his fees. Mike sat down and explained the retainer agreement was. He worked with me. The other two lawyers threw a piece of paper in front of me and told me to sign it. Mike's bills laid out what he did for his money. I didn't have to guess what the "T/C" was about. Mike gave a synopsis under each bill. My first two lawyers just sent me a bill. I had no idea what they did, other than a code and a time amount, with no synopsis. Mike sent me correspondence to review before he sent it out. Mike copied me with every correspondence that went in or out of his office. i had to beg my other attorneys for copies. I was part of the process, not just the audience.

Mike Speck is an excellent Family Law attorney. While he is exemplary in all areas of law and litigation - Mr. Speck proved to be absolutely phenomenal during a very stressful child support case in 2018 through 2019. My child’s father submitted falsified tax returns, Mr. Speck’s keen eye immediat...ely picked up on this act of perjury. He subpoenaed my ex’s lawyer, accountants and the IRS to uncover my ex made $400,000+ a year not $90,000. Child Support laws in NJ are very tough and calculated with a child support worksheet. Once we had my ex’s accurate income info, Mr. Speck was able to calculate correct child support based on my FT income and my ex’s. I saw a substantial increase in child support for my son. Mr. Speck also argued and won - that my ex pay 50% for elite sports training and summer camp. Plus, a % of health insurance for my son. Additionally I received a legal and substantial lump sum of arrears. He prevailed in every matter presented in the case. As a single, working mother, in cancer remission, with sole custody of my son - he truly saved my life. We also encouraged my son’s father to exercise his visitation rights to no avail. Mr. Speck is smart, detailed, and a no-nonsense lawyer. My ex tried his best to out-wit Mr. Speck but failed miserably. In fact, the judge ordered my ex pay a portion of Mr. Speck’s legal fees. The child support case was based in NJ. But my ex lives out of state. That did not stop Mr. Speck from fully prevailing. I’d like to add, in the matter of family court, and because my minor son was involved, I was extremely moved by Mr. Speck’s empathy and determination to fight for my child’s rights. He will represent me until my child graduates college or graduate school. If you need a child support lawyer - you need to call Mr. Speck today.

I had to file bankruptcy in order to keep my home. I fell on hard times and dealing with the mortgage company became impossible. As the mortgage company was trying to sell my house out from under me Mike stepped in and everything came to a halt. Mike has been professional, knowledgeable, efficient... and the most helpful thru the entire process. He was always available to answer my questions and explain things during the most difficult process. Thanks to Mike I was able to work out an arrangement and keep my home. I would highly recommend his services.

Michael Speck, although we shared a difference of opinion at the end of him representing me, has to be one of the most aggressive attorneys I have ever used. As a result of me having a crazy ex who is the mother of my daughter and in tight with local police Mike Speck has successfully went to trial (...no plea agreements for me) a number of hearings both in municipal court from harassment(crazy x) , traffic violations (crazy x and police) to DUI's from local police ( my fault because crazy x), superior court (crazy x) pertaining to DYFS matters(crazy x) and family court (crazy x). He has even brought cases all the way to the supreme court for me. He has clarified issues with my daughters Dr. offices as well as issues I was having with my daughters school. He even went far enough to work with me despite my limited income. He is one of those hard hitting lawyers that are portrayed in major movies, but is the real deal. I recommended a neighbor to him just recently. Hopefully people wont need a lawyer in their life, but if you do, call Mike Speck. (Don't hold anything back though. Tell him everything truthfully. Let him do his job.)
