If I can rate Jonathan a 0 I would. I spoke to him during an initial consult, he told me one set price and told me he couldn’t start on my case until it was paid in full. I made a partial payment and sent him my documents, Tammy said they couldn’t use it, it had to be sent in PDF form or delivered. I... have Epilepsy and caught a seizure while pregnant and driving. My doctor ordered me to stop driving and working. So I couldn’t pay the balance. I even got evicted with my 2 kids because I couldn’t keep up with the bills after I stopped working. So now I’m full of debt, and can’t work and pregnant. I called Jonathan and told him I can’t afford to pay him and would like a reimbursement for the partial payment . He then told me I should start a go fund me to pay him the balance. I told him if I started a go fund me it would be to pay my rent and take my disabled daughter to the doctor since I now have to take Ubers to Shriners since I can’t drive. I never heard from him after that, for over a month. I sent weekly emails asking for an update. I was ignored. Finally I called the office blocking my number, they answered. Tammy said she saw my email but doesn’t know why Jonathan wasn’t replying and he gave her no direction on what to do. I told her to tell him I would like an update before the week was over or I’ll come to the office myself to speak to him and file a small claims case. An hour later I get an email with a bill for almost $4000. He kept my $2500 and then chargers me$495/hour for work he said he couldn’t do because I didn’t pay in full. Now he sends me a bill for an extra $1500. I went to him to try to get help and he just took my money and put me in deeper debt. Be careful I would not advise ANYBODY to work with him. He might screw you over too!

Failed to file a simple loan modification application correctly. He further used the NCIB laws, that protect consumers, by insisting our mortgage company had sent him the wrong information. He filed many Notice Of Errors, cost me so much money, with the end result being the same every time. One examp...le, my mortgage payoff figure, for one. He worked on things that I did not authorize him to do, refused to explain, unwarranted charges, then ignored multiple phone calls to call me back. When he did, unknown to me, he charged me for those calls as well. Emails? Same thing. Either no response, or a response of no value, and was also charged for it. Mr Cohen at that point, was replaced by a more competent attorney who started and finished the job for less, and to my satisfaction. I felt Mr Cohen was deceived us, and for that, I would never recommend him to anyone.

Jonathan really has been excellent from the start. He was not the first attorney that we consulted with, but he quickly became the last. His professionalism and the professionalism of his legal assistant are top notch. Any questions, one of them is always available to answer via email, text or phone ...call. Highly recommended.

Was drowning in debt not sleeping and eating my heart out. Searched for bankruptcy lawyers in monmouth county and His firm popped up. Had a free consult and he immediately put me at ease and actually LISTENED instead of talking over me. We laughed i almost cried and i hired him. While not as cheap as... other firms which farm out the work to software and assistants he actually works and is a pleasure to deal with. I Was a bit of a pain in the Tuches but he took it in stride and with a smile. Fast forward to today and my 341 hearing i was over prepared which was an excellent thing as it made a scary and embarrassing situation easy. In short i highly recommend the services of his firm.
