Garrett consulted me on a tenant-landlord situation. He was thoughtful, smart, and patient in explaining the law and helping me think through the issues. While I ended up not needing to hire a lawyer, I would refer him to others based on my experience with him.

I retained Mr Simulcik for a personal matter in November 2012. Given his professionalism, attention to detail, communication skills and all else expected from a personal attorney, I plan on retaining his services on all future matters.

In my industry, and in these trying times, it can be difficult to get paid by my customers. My company retains Garrett to help facilitate payment, in a number of different ways. He was very knowledgeable when it came to the different methods that were available to us. He has had excellent results, and my team at the office are very happy with his services. I would recommend Mr. Sumulcik to to anyone that asked based on what I have seen.

After paying his retainer fee, It took Garrett two months to prepare a draft for a complaint during that time there was no communication as to the status, In good faith, issued a check of $250 for the cost of filing the complaint with the law division, almost six months later the complaint was never filed nor completed.
A year retained and the only service rendered were a telephone call and a draft letter which was never finalized or filed with the court. During that year, the only substance of telephone calls and emails primarily consisted of expression of dissisfaction and his verbose excuses and apologies.

Garrett Paul Simulcik Jr’s response: “Generally, before any lawsuit is filed and the complaint drafted, a significant amount of time must be expended acquiring information and supporting documents, analyzing the facts, and researching issues. In each case handled by my office, it is my goal to locate and consider every possible cause of action (or defense) that a particular client may have to ensure that the client’s rights are fully protected. Some cases are by their nature more complicated than others. Sometimes as a case evolves, other issues arise and/or additional information is discovered that cause a case to be more complicated and involved than originally anticipated. Nonetheless, this office is committed to tackling those issues as they arise. In certain matters, the attorney may become aware of other persons similarly situated as the client, and, therefore, will suggest that these parties be brought into the case to help lessen legal fees and costs for the clients. It is routine in this office to consider and discuss all cost-saving possibilities with clients to ensure that they receive the best value for their legal fees. Keep in mind, however, that the addition of parties will frequently result in some delay, because for each additional party, the attorney must deal with slightly different set of facts and evidence as well as possible deviating attitudes toward the tempo of the matter. Nonetheless, this office makes every effort to keep its clients informed of all significant developments along the way. This office firmly believes that effective communication is vital to any attorney-client relationship. For this reason, if someone is not immediately available to answer a phone call or email or text message, it is the policy of this office to return every message within 24 hours, with the understanding that it is the nature of the business that client emergencies and litigation matters requiring immediate attention may arise from time to time. Frustration by delays is understandable. Often, those delays are caused by an adversarial party and/or attorney, or are otherwise out of the control of the attorney. Clients are invited to express any concerns with regard to any aspect of their case, and this office will always attempt to take the steps necessary to alleviate any issues to the extent that it is within our control. However, in order for communication to be effective, the client and attorney must communicate at a professional level of mutual respect. When frustrations take the form of screaming, personal insults and/or threatening violent behavior, it is very difficult for any attorney to recognize or address the issue(s) at hand. An attorney can only work to the best that his clients and their cooperation and the cooperation of all parties and other attorneys involved will allow. Finally, while in midst of constructing a lawsuit for a particular client, another legal situation involving that client may arise, at which point the attorney may make a recommendation as to the priority in which the matters are handled, as was the case here. When this occurs, the client is generally required to advance further funds to be placed on retainer related to the new matter, especially when the client's retainer for the original matter is depleted. This office takes a client's financial situation into consideration and will make every attempt to work within a client's budget. However, we are not a free legal clinic, and cannot expend valuable time on a matter without any expectation of being compensated for our services related thereto.”
