Biography
J. Nicholas Strasser is a civil litigation attorney practicing in the areas of insurance defense and coverage and civil litigation, representing insurance companies and their clients in tort-based liability matters.
Prior to joining Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, PC, Nicholas was an assistant prosecutor for the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. As an assistant prosecutor, Nicholas was assigned to the Special Victims Unit, prosecuting sex crimes and felony level domestic violence cases.
Prior to his work as a prosecutor, Nicholas was an attorney with the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps where he served with the 1st Cavalry Division. During his deployment to Iraq, Nicholas served as the trial counsel and international law attorney for the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade. Upon his return from Iraq, Nicholas was assigned to the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he ultimately served as principal legal advisor for the Commandant of Cadets, a brigadier general, and 38 subordinate commanders.
For distinguished service while in the Army, Nicholas received several military awards including the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
Nicholas graduated with high honors from Lehigh University in 2001 and received his juris doctor degree from Temple University School of Law in 2004.
Nicholas has served on the Hudson County Bar Association's Professionalism Committee since 2013.
Nicholas was appointed to the Township of Weehawken's Planning Board in March 2015 for a five year term.
