Biography
My practice is focused primarily on family law matters and appeals, though I also proudly represent parents seeking to obtain guardianship of their adult children with special needs. I have been a partner of the law firm of Gomperts Penza McDermott & Von Ellen, LLC in Springfield, New Jersey since January 2018. Prior to joining my current firm, I spent 8 years with the law firm of Wolkstein, Von Ellen & Brown, LLC, first as an associate and then as a partner.
Before entering the private practice of family law, I served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Anthony F. Picheca, Jr., J.S.C., Somerset County, Chancery Division – Family Part from 2008-2009. I also served as intern to the Honorable Claire C. Cecchi, U.S.M.J., United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 2007, and intern to the Honorable Joel A. Pisano, U.S.D.J., United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 2006. During my law school education at Seton Hall Law School, I participated in the Family Law Clinic, providing free legal services to Essex County residents in need.

Excellent Family Law Attorney
I have a very difficult ex-wife, who tends to make everything adversarial. Marisa's understanding of the law and how the system works enabled her to get favorable judgments on almost all of my requests to the court regarding the custody of my son. I highly recommend her.
