Laurie A. Hauptman

Part 1: Several years ago, I applied for the Veterans' Aid and Attendance benefit for my mother, who is blind, and requires help with her daily activities. After many frustrating months of back and forth correspondence with the VA, our application was rejected. I was fortunate enough to receive... a CD from Hauptman & Hauptman, which described their success in attaining this very same benefit for their clients. I met with Laurie Hauptman, and she assured me that she would be able to get this benefit for my mother. She and her staff handled everything for us. It took almost a year, (due to the 'efficiency' of the government) but finally, our application was approved. My mother is receiving the monthly benefit to which she is entitled and a lump sum payment back to the application date. Without Laurie's knowledge of how to get this done, her persistence, and constant following up with the VA, my mother would never have gotten this benefit. Part 2 Five years later During my mother's recent hospital stay, I realized that I am no longer able to provide the level of care that she requires. As the hospital was pushing to discharge her, I felt overwhelmed. I had no idea what to do. I called Laurie Hauptman to tell her that I had to find a care facility for my mother. Even though we hadn't spoken to each other for several years, it didn't seem that way at all. She provided me with the guidance that I needed to make the decisions that needed to be made for my mother's future care. Due to the relationship that she has with the facility that I chose, she actually negotiated and got better terms than I was able to do on my own. I was able to concentrate on my mother's medical needs knowing that Laurie 'has our backs'.

Laurie and the firm of Hauptman&Hauptman were retained by my family to provide estate planning, guidance in complicated legal matters regarding real estate transfer to a disabled son, and establishment of a Trust, and transition to assisted living. She was patient and compassionate and guided the fa...mily towards best resolutions of these issues. She and Yale Hauptman needed to work with family with their own disabilities which complicated getting all this done. Her guidance was patient and responsive, and her knowledge of the law was up-to-the-minute which is vital because it changes every year. Her work was expert, and her gentle and professional manner was a comfort to us during a complicated and stressful period. Absolutely Recommended !!

The best decision we made when it became clear that our Mom was not longer able to handle her affairs was to seek out an attorney that specializes in elder care planning. I am so very grateful to have Laurie guide us with throughout this sometimes overwhelming process. All of Mom's legal documents ...have been updated and this provides us with great piece of mind. Laurie is always available to field any questions we have. It is a pleasure to work with her.

When delays at the VA resulted in a significant number of benefit payments not being made before my father passed away, they stayed on the case for years and even got our congressmen involved to ensure that our parents’ estate was justly reimbursed. Hauptman and Hauptman has handled all elder care needs for my mother. I have used their services for updating wills, setting up a Trust, and applying for both VA benefits and for Medicaid assistance. They were instrumental in obtaining VA assisted living benefits and successfully fought through the... very cumbersome governmental application process for an entire year without ever charging me any extra fees. We are now in the Medicaid application process which is equally as cumbersome. Eldercare is very complicated. Making the wrong choices can result in a significant loss of money and benefits.
