Excellent- definitely recommend.
Matthew helped me and provided me with all necessary information. I felt completely comfortable and understood the situation completely. He helped me not only with my case but on a personal level.

Not guilty after trial
I highly recommend Matthew! He is one of the most honest hardworking attorneys I have come across. Matthew can be a little intimidating at first ( you obviously want that in a criminal defense attorney, especially at trial), but by the end of your first meeting you feel very confident that everything...
"I have known Matthew for a couple of years and he is an impeccable attorney and a great friend. Working with him and his team was a pleasure. I fully endorse Matthew."
"Matthew is an attorney who brings the true meaning of professionalism to his practice. Not only do I endorse him for personal injury, I also endorse him for criminal defense."
"Attorney Maddox is a highly sought after trial lawyer. Lawyers like me count Matt as the go-to trial attorney in Fairfield County for auto accidents, personal injury, or criminal defense. His reputation is second to none. Highly recommended!!"
"I endorse Matthew. I have known Matthew to be a consummate professional and an attorney who is dedicated to his craft. Matthew’s communication and people skills are second to none, and you will be well served having Matthew as your counsel."
"Matthew is one of the best in the business. Level headed, articulate, and well respected. Keeps a great relationship with prosecution while vigorously defending his client. Not easy to balance but Matthew does it masterfully."
"I am the current president of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and I definitely endorse Attorney Maddox for his work defending people charged with criminal offenses in Connecticut. Attorney Maddox is a tireless fighter for the accused and zealously defends his clients. If you are seeking an attorney for help with a criminal case, you have found a good one in Attorney Maddox."
"I had the good fortune early in my career to share office space with Matthew Maddox and I got to see, first hand, what being a professional is all about. He is kind to his clients and courteous to all. In defending his clients in court he has a uniquely subtle ferocity that, far more often than not, wins over his adversaries and judges alike. In those rare instances where a jury trial is the only feasible avenue for his client, Attorney Maddox can try a case with the best of them. Perhaps most importantly, Matthew has the utmost respect of the "insiders" - court staff, prosecutors and Judges."
"I give this lawyer my highest endorsement. Attorney Maddox practices pursuant to the highest professional and ethical standards. He possesses superior communication skills."
"For well over a decade I have seen first hand the quality representation Matthew provides on a daily basis. He is smart, professional and well respected by both the prosecutors and the Judges he regularly appears before. Unlike other attorneys, Matt is not afraid to take a case to trial. He is not afraid to fight for his clients rights and does so with a dogged determination. He is also one of the most well-prepared and courteous lawyers I know which is why I routinely refer clients to him. I recommend Attorney Maddox without reservation."
"Attorney Maddox is a professional, compassionate, and results-driven attorney who consistently goes beyond what is expected in the representation of his clients. I happily and highly recommend him to anybody seeking representation."
"I have known Matthew to be an outstanding lawyer and resource in criminal and personal injury law. He knows both areas better than anyone I know and treats his clients like gold. I highly recommend him."
"I have worked with Matthew Maddox for over 15 years. He combines competence with compassion, advocacy with grace, and experience with results. Would highly recommend him for any criminal or civil matter in Connecticut."

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2001.
Reprimand issued in CT, 2001
updated on 04/14/2025A reprimand is an order from the Statewide Grievance Committee after it has found that an attorney has engaged in ethical misconduct. If an attorney receives more than 3 reprimands in 5 years, a presentment must be filed against the attorney so the Superior Court can decide if more serious discipline should be ordered.
“This matter that occurred 24 years ago involved a complaint that arose after I sent a letter ending my representation of a client. It was determined that I waited too long to send the letter. I regret waiting to send the letter and regret more that the client felt let down. There was no other claim that came of this. Sadly, the original case had no merit, which was why I chose to end my representation.”
