Having hired Felice late in a Title IX school proceeding that typically leads to expulsion, I was concerned about the impact hiring a new attorney late into a case would have. My concerns were completely unwarranted - mostly due to the amazing job of Felice and her team at Duffy Law. Felice is e...xtremely well-versed in Title IX school proceedings, as she also fought tooth and nail to defend my right to fight back against the false accusations I was facing, where pretty much every due process right I thought I had was stripped from me. On multiple occasions she was able to convince the school investigator to reconsider and reverse their position on biased policies. One of the many examples of blatant bias Felice was able to fight back against was not allowing me to present my own witnesses when witnesses were presented against me. While these may seem like standard protections we are provided through the law - I quickly learned the hard way prior to hiring Felice that this is almost never the case in university hearings and processes. Felice was not only an incredible attorney, but also a genuine and cognizant person as well as a steady hand throughout a emotional roller coster of an eight month process that there seemed to be no coming back from. I was incredibly impressed with Felice's ability to always be there for me not only as my attorney but also as a person, no matter my state of mind or the circumstances surrounding. It was with Felice's assistance that I was able to not only complete the disciplinary process, but continue on with my life afterwards. "I am writing to let any college student who gets accused of something serious by their school know that they need a lawyer like Felice Duffy to defend them. I was accused of something terrible by a female student that I would never do and didn’t do. Even though I knew exactly what actually happene...d, I was very scared that my university’s response to the situation might not find me innocent. It was terrifying to think that I might lose my full basketball scholarship or could have been suspended or expelled and that me and my family’s name could have gotten a horrible reputation. I can’t even put into words how I excited I was when I got the letter from the school that cleared me completely of the charges against me and I have Felice to thank for that 100%. You can tell that she loves the work she’s doing to help college kids like me in really difficult situations.
