Matthew George McGoldrick

Attorney Matthew G. McGoldrick joined the CT Divorce Mediation Centers in October of 2020. Prior to joining the firm, Attorney McGoldrick’s legal practice was focused on litigating marital and other family matters primarily in Hartford and Middlesex counties. He attended Villanova University as an undergraduate and earned his J.D. degree from the Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut.

Throughout his legal career, Attorney McGoldrick was drawn to helping clients navigate the turmoil and confusion that oftentimes is associated with the divorce process. During his time as a litigator, he came to recognize that many divorcing couples could be best served by removing or limiting the adversarial nature of divorce litigation and the court system. Attorney McGoldrick coaches the individuals he works with to begin recognizing shared goals and priorities during the process, thereby guiding the spouses to focus on moving themselves and their families forward into the next phases of post-marriage life.

Attorney McGoldrick believes that the Mediation and Collaborative approaches to divorce allow the individuals to preserve their dignity and the personal relationships that have been constructed throughout the marriage, which will remain imperative to protecting the communication between divorcing parents.

By providing a safe space for divorcing couples to begin disentangling themselves from one another other, he helps his clients focus on what post-marriage life may look like and begin jointly developing a separation agreement for their family moving forward.

Attorney McGoldrick has earned certification in divorce mediation from the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce and collaborative divorce training from the Collaborative Practice Training Institute.
