Prior to consulting with Attorney Karen Gersten, I had been cleaning out my desk and came across an old sticky note with her phone number. I had been referred to Karen two years earlier by a professional acquaintance of mine who works closely with attorneys and who knew I was considering a divorce. ... Her advice was to “go see Karen” but the note never made it to my priority list! I had become so overwhelmed and discouraged with the legal process, having interviewed with two attorneys who did not have the scope of knowledge I was expecting, that I put my divorce on hold. I decided to call Karen. She promptly returned my call and rearranged her calendar to see me on short notice. It was the best decision I could have made. Her immense knowledge and expertise on family matters and the legal process gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my divorce. Oftentimes during a divorce, a time of extreme emotional upheaval, you are looking for someone to sympathize and tell you what you want to hear. While having compassion for my situation, Karen did not offer false hope. Rather, she made it a point to be forthright about the legal process and what I could expect. As soon as you meet Karen, you recognize her immense integrity, honesty, and expertise. She is extremely wise, empathetic, well informed, and trustworthy. I feel Karen has the best interest of her client at the forefront. Before I met her, I was fearful of the legal process regarding divorce. After meeting Karen, I feel safe and I trust her completely. Karen was recommended to me by 2 different people and I cannot be more thankful to her and her office for the way they handled my divorce. While the issue at times was more than contentious, Karen helped guide the process in a professional manner and we arrived at a settlement in a couple months whe...n it could have taken years. I hired Karen last year as my divorce attorney. She expertly guided me through the entire process, which included getting a restraining and protective order for me and my children, navigating custody, and of course, finances. Karen proved to be a trusted advisor, and managed my case flawlessly until ...final settlement. Even though at times, I might have disagreed with her recommendations, she was always able to counsel me as to her reasoning, and in the end, proved to be spot-on. I had the ultimate confidence in her, and am thankful I hired her to help my family through an extremely difficult time.

Karen is cool and calm and extremely knowledgeable, very quick thinking and organized. She and her team helped me tremendously in a heated contentious and complicated divorce. The process and probable outcomes discussed in the initial consultation were spot on. She seems to be steps ahead of the g...ame at every turn. Extremely competent. I have never had a chance to write a review about Karen, even though I had been divorced about 6 years now. She was recommended to me by a friend who knew someone was getting a divorced and the feedback was that she was good. I had what I understood to be called a "high conflict divorce", my ex had... a personality disorder issue who created chaos to the children and I through this process. 2 things saved my life a book called "Splitting" and Karen. My divorce took about a year where I had to go to court over 15 times for a variety of issues, motions etc. My ex went through 4 different attorneys and through at all Karen was by my side in a way that I felt that as bas as my situation was I felt comfortable that she was by my side. My divorce actually went to trial (which the odds are usually slim) which lasted 2 days, throughout the trial she would pinpoint things the other attorney would do and how she would react to it. it was impressive to see how she was basically calling out the other attorney next move. Needless to say, I was able to get everything I wanted from the divorce with the main thing being able to see my kids the same amount as her. Having shared physical and legal custody of the children was always my goal and as a man I felt it wouldn't be possible. Karen always made it a clear that we both had equal rights and that just because I was the dad did not mean I would lose them. Throughout the years I had gone back to Karen on the multiple times I have gotten back to court. Every time, I have been fine and been successful on what needed to be done. I never mentioned to her but I owe a lot to her in many ways, being able to see my children as much as my ex does is a blessing that I won't believe wouldn't have happened without her. other therapists told me that perhaps I should give my ex an extra day to stop the fighting, which is funny because I don't believe they wouldn't have done that for their children. Karen always kept saying "you have rights" and that stuck with me. I will be going back to court soon, unfortunately, and although I get nervous every time this happen, I know that every time I walk to that court room with Karen by my side, I feel that things will be ok.
