I am a former Rhode Island Special Assistant Attorney General from 1993-1997. During those years I prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases ranging from disorderly conduct to first degree murder in every Rhode Island County. Additionally, along with other prosecutors, I lectured in-coming police academy cadets on proper drunk driving and Rhode Island DUI investigations and prosecutions. This unique experience has allowed me a wealth of knowledge not readily available to the average Rhode Island DUI lawyer or criminal defense attorney. Since 1997 I have been applying all that I learned as a prosecutor in order to better benefit my private clients as a criminal defense lawyer.

DUI

S. Josh Macktaz is by far without a doubt, the best choice for your criminal defense attorney. We were referred to him by a family member that had great deal of success with Josh as his lawyer. Now, not ever having the need for a lawyer for any reason in our lives... this was a very upsetting and distressing and emotional situation. We gave Josh a call and he immediately got us in for a consultation. He really put our minds at ease as soon as we walked into his office. His professionalism and ability to explain everything about what is ahead of us is unparalleled. He detailed the entire process and gave us his word that everything would work out in our best interest and as good of an outcome as we can expect. He was right!!! All the charges that would effect us adversely were dropped. Only one month without being able to drive. No criminal charges...All records of this this DUI expunged.... Ten hours of community service and six months with a car interlocking device. We can’t thank Josh enough for his for his help and his compassion with our family.

Very honest Attorney

THE BEST THERE IS!!!

Josh is a great choice!! From the beginning to end he ease the pain of your problems. Rehired him three times for addition mistakes made during the first case. From an accident with tickets, Awesome result (Never accepted) a speeding ticket after it all. He got me small fine. Then again DUI while 2nd case was pending. He saved me there also, just another small fine. He is professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He was upfront and honest. He will get the best results from any case he takes on. Surprise Verdict

I am beyond grateful for what Josh did for me as my lawyer. I had a bad accident, was going to be charged with a hit and run and hired Josh to keep my license from getting suspended. I was shocked to get an even better result as he somehow got the entire case dismissed! No charge or any type of fees or penalties. I didn't even have to step into the courtroom. I actually had been referred to Josh by a friend who needed his help prior to my situation. He is excellent and I would not have gotten this result without him.

Second DUI Representation

Joshua was amazing, professional, kind and understanding. At not one moment did I feel judged or like I wasn’t in good hands. As mentioned before, this was my second DUI and Joshua actually helped me get lesser penalties than my first. You can tell he is highly respected in the judicial community and made sure I crossed every T and dotted every I. But most importantly to me, at my last court appearance, when I was sitting in the hallway waiting for my final paperwork, Joshua sat down next to me and genuinely asked me how I was doing and if I was ok. Something no one else asked me throughout the whole process. This gentleman was a true blessing in my life and I can’t thank him enough!

DUI

I hired Joshua for a DUI charge I was being accused of. I met with him for the first time and explained my situation to him including my time at the police station. He told me what I was to expect and how I was to expect it.Joshua looked into my encounter at the police station and was able to obtain my interview at the police station. The way in which my situation was handled at the police station he informed me was not handled correctly.With that being said I went to court with Joshua and before I could even face a judge my charges were dropped from a Dui to a very lesser charge.Joshua stayed in touch with me thoroughly throughout my entire trial.Joshua extended help as far as to go to court to present my community service hours due to the fact I live in another state. I would highly recommend Joshua to anyone who is in need of an attorney. He is very straight forward and gets you where you need to be.
