Not who you want in a divorce

If you're considering a divorce, consult multiple attorneys—even if they come recommended. Tim’s a nice guy, but not the advocate you need. His reactive, slow approach left me constantly chasing answers, and he even misread an email, then quit over my response. For $120 an hour, you deserve a lawyer ...who’s proactive and fully engaged. Spend more for someone who will truly have your back.

Dropped the ball

After seeing his reviews on Avvo I met with Mr. Sweet. At first he seemed to listen to me and it felt like he was in my corner. As time went on I discovered he wasn't what he seemed to be. My back was up against the wall since my ex suddenly decided she wanted a divorce and was lawyering up. I told M...r. Sweet I needed to stay in the house since she took the kids and left me and I had no where else to go. My convoluted work schedule added to the dilemna. He was able to follow through with that as my ex went and the kids stayed with her father. When it was time for her to be served I found out that the constable wasn't able to locate her and it took approximately 3 weeks to get that done. That was almost a disaster since I thought she had been served earlier and I almost said something to her. He gave me a court date but never explained what was going to happen on that date. We were communicating by email because I thought that would simplify things and I didn't want to miss anything by using a phone. Yet as I asked the questions I found I wasn't getting complete answers. The only time I was impressed with Mr. sweet was when we had the intial meeting in court. He took over the meeting and temporary allowances were put in place. He also confronted my ex about possible adultry. I was told we would sit down again the following month but that never happened. Instead I was barraged in paperwork trying to comply with financial disclosure. I repeatedly emailed Mr. sweet about problems with my visitations and that my ex forbid that my kids be brought around my family. He placated the situation by telling me that this would be addressed at our next court date. During this time the court order stated that my kids were to attend family counseling. When I asked Mr. Sweet if I was supposed to attend, he said no. After a few weeks went by and I received an email copy of the order it stated that I was suposed to attend counceling with them. I was in disbelief. After all, my ex took the kids and my relationship with them was somewhat strained especailly with my oldest. I attempted to be integrated into the counseling sessions but my ex took over the meetings and it was a disaster. At that point she said she was not coming back to counseling so it came to an abrupt end. I addressed this to Mr. Sweet with no response. After the first continuance, when the next court date came it too was continued, but I was not made aware that we even had a court date. I guess he forgot to tell me. Strike 2. He had been in my employment now for 4 months and we were no further along than when we started. He was supposed to dipose my ex's alleged boyfriend and that never happened either. The final straw came when my ex told me she was taking our kids on vacation to Florida and our court date would be continued again. Apparently Mr. Sweet was on board with this but again neglected to consult me. This was our 3rd continuance and now we would have to wait 4 months for another court date. In the meantime nothing changed and I was responsilbe for 100 % of the medical and dental not to mention my visitations were continuing to be manipulated by my ex. After 6 months of going nowhere I finally fired him. I had paid him over $3500 and he wasn't worth $35.

DELIVERED!

I cannot begin to describe how happy I am that I had Timothy represent me! As an ACTIVE DUTY, SINGLE FATHER, my divorce was seemingly never ending. After 16 months, two previous lawyers, over 10k spent, and an attempt to go Pro Se... I felt lost. I found Timothy after exhaustive research. I was s...cared and felt like I had nowhere to go. After my first conversation with Timothy, I felt like I once again had HOPE. Timothy listened to me, asked what I was seeking, and in LESS THAN A MONTH my divorce was final. The combination of Timothy and Kelsey (his legal assistant) made me feel like I was their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. They were exceptionally professional, exhibited masterful communication, and in the end... DELIVERED! I'm still in shock that he was able to successfully conclude my nightmare divorce and on terms that I am more than comfortable with.

A really good experience

The attorneys at Sweet Family Law really helped me out when I needed them. They listened to me and were always available to answer my questions. Most of all, they treated me like a person during a really difficult time. I highly recommend them.
