Biography
Timothy Sweet, Owner and Attorney at The Law Office of Timothy M. Sweet, LLC, provides compassionate representation to families during the most trying times. He specializes in creative problem-solving and often resolves highly contentious family law cases in half the time (and for half the money) of many other attorneys. An expert at solving issues others can’t – frequently without going to trial – he focuses on the needs of children and families first.
Twelve years ago, Timothy opened his practice to create a laid-back environment where he could offer his clients candid advice and genuine dialogue, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes. He is an advocate for high-level negotiation and respectful resolution, and he is a certified mediator.
As an adopted child himself, one of the most fulfilling parts of his work is helping kids get adopted into loving families. He also handles other Rhode Island family court cases, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, child support, and alimony.
In Timothy’s free time, you’ll often find him reading, watching movies, and spending quality time with his daughter. He is quite philosophical… But he makes sure to enjoy the small things like watching his daughter play with her kitten Nugget.

If you're considering a divorce, consult multiple attorneys—even if they come recommended. Tim’s a nice guy, but not the advocate you need.
