Dropped the ball

After seeing his reviews on Avvo I met with Mr. Sweet. At first he seemed to listen to me and it felt like he was in my corner. As time went on I discovered he wasn't what he seemed to be. My back was up against the wall since my ex suddenly decided she wanted a divorce and was lawyering up. I told M...r. Sweet I needed to stay in the house since she took the kids and left me and I had no where else to go. My convoluted work schedule added to the dilemna. He was able to follow through with that as my ex went and the kids stayed with her father. When it was time for her to be served I found out that the constable wasn't able to locate her and it took approximately 3 weeks to get that done. That was almost a disaster since I thought she had been served earlier and I almost said something to her. He gave me a court date but never explained what was going to happen on that date. We were communicating by email because I thought that would simplify things and I didn't want to miss anything by using a phone. Yet as I asked the questions I found I wasn't getting complete answers. The only time I was impressed with Mr. sweet was when we had the intial meeting in court. He took over the meeting and temporary allowances were put in place. He also confronted my ex about possible adultry. I was told we would sit down again the following month but that never happened. Instead I was barraged in paperwork trying to comply with financial disclosure. I repeatedly emailed Mr. sweet about problems with my visitations and that my ex forbid that my kids be brought around my family. He placated the situation by telling me that this would be addressed at our next court date. During this time the court order stated that my kids were to attend family counseling. When I asked Mr. Sweet if I was supposed to attend, he said no. After a few weeks went by and I received an email copy of the order it stated that I was suposed to attend counceling with them. I was in disbelief. After all, my ex took the kids and my relationship with them was somewhat strained especailly with my oldest. I attempted to be integrated into the counseling sessions but my ex took over the meetings and it was a disaster. At that point she said she was not coming back to counseling so it came to an abrupt end. I addressed this to Mr. Sweet with no response. After the first continuance, when the next court date came it too was continued, but I was not made aware that we even had a court date. I guess he forgot to tell me. Strike 2. He had been in my employment now for 4 months and we were no further along than when we started. He was supposed to dipose my ex's alleged boyfriend and that never happened either. The final straw came when my ex told me she was taking our kids on vacation to Florida and our court date would be continued again. Apparently Mr. Sweet was on board with this but again neglected to consult me. This was our 3rd continuance and now we would have to wait 4 months for another court date. In the meantime nothing changed and I was responsilbe for 100 % of the medical and dental not to mention my visitations were continuing to be manipulated by my ex. After 6 months of going nowhere I finally fired him. I had paid him over $3500 and he wasn't worth $35.

Honest, attentive, knowledgeable, reasonable

The word honest is probably not the first work that comes to mind when describing a family law attorney, but I must say that I found Tim to share the same transparency, integrity and honesty that I value. In the world of divorce and mud slinging, it's nice to argue a case based on facts and ethics, r...ather than lies and digs. Don't get me wrong: Tim can take a firm hardline, but he will do it without compromising his ethics and without making up lies about opposing counsel. He will argue based on law, fact, and most importantly, based on the best interests of kids, if involved. . My motto is be honest, be truthful, be real. Tim shares these core values. I would strongly recommend him.

Nobody Wins When the Family Feuds

I first contacted The Law Offices of Timothy M. Sweet when I did not know what else to do concerning my son. My connection with Mr. Sweet meant to me far more than my case as he took the time to understand the situation. I am so grateful for the work and effort his office has invested in me, for ...it exceeded my expectations. No matter what time of day, Mr. Sweet made sure he was available to provide and give the best possible solutions for the matter. Although stressed and worried at times, the Office managed to put my mind at ease and was selfless; which left me the ability to go on with my work day. I could not have had a better lawyer and representative. The Law Offices of Timothy M. Sweet executed my case with excellence and accomplished the best solution for my son. I finally got my son back and cannot fully express the joy I feel. I cannot thank them enough. Thank you Timothy for picking up my late night calls. Thank you Brittney for being able to understand my pain and making it possible for the better.

Dedicated Attorney

My husband and I were overwhelmed until we found Timothy Sweet. From day one he lifted our hopes and guided us though a very difficult interstate custody case. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a dedicated attorney

I highly recommend Mr. Timothy Sweet!

I have hired Mr. Timothy Sweet two times now. Both times we won our case! I always felt comfortable with him as he was always very knowledgeable and very professional. One time he helped me with a work related issue and another time it was related to finances and student loans. He was also always ea...sy to contact, explained everything so I could understand it and always treated me with respect and dignity. He responds fast as well to questions or concerns. I really felt like we worked together as a team and I would always trust his advice, which really paid off in the end. I have also referred him to two family friends who have benefited from his services. One of these was a custody issue and he also comes highly recommended from my friends who have used his services. He is a family man with ethics and morals and an excellent layer. He is also very reasonable when it comes to charges. I hope you contact Mr. Sweet for a consultation!
