Doesn't stay at a law firm long enough to use up his first order of business cards

Isaac Borenstein is the classic "long on promises and short on delivery" type of attorney. He can talk a very good game, but as soon as he is paid you will rarely see or hear from him again. As the saying goes 'Do not be fooled by the words, gestures and promises you encounter. Most important are... the actions shown, for they tell the truth of a person.' Those words ring especially clear when dealing with Mr. Borenstein. He is very expensive and justifies this with all of his "connections in the judicial system". Sounds good, but the problem is he has no influence over the court or any employees working there. He is very knowledgeable, but it is very difficult to get him to do anything with that knowledge. He still seems to be on a 'judges schedule', where everyone is still suppose to wait on him and maybe that's where he should have remained. But, as he explained to David Yas of the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly "that he likely would have continued his judicial career for a while but for the fact that his son Simon is a student at Carnegie-Mellon University ... which costs $52,000 a year, [and] put[s] public servants like Borenstein in the unfortunate and unenviable position of having to decide between providing for their children’s education – and facing financial hardship...." [Published Jun 11 2008, Harvey Silverglate quoting Lawyers Weekly]. Attorney Borenstein admits he's in it for the money, but what you will find out shortly after paying him is that his heart and his will are not. If you decide to hire him, you will have to be sure to keep track of which firm he is working from. He has moved three times in as many years, leaving some clients told by the receptionist that he is no longer there. Attorney Borenstein's employers since leaving his judgeship: Rudolph Friedmann LLP (Boston) in 2009 Denner Pellegrino, L.L.P., (Boston) in 2010 Kajko, Weisman, Colasanti & Stein, LLP (Lexington) in 2011

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
