Ben Flam

Ben is an incredibly tenacious attorney. Once Ben gets his jaws in an issue, he will not let go until he sees it to an adventageuous outcome for his client. I had a complicated employment issue involving national security and government bureaucracies. What started as one matter soon branched off... in other directions. Ben argued my case in several courts all the way to Pennsylvania and Washington, DC. Ben never phoned anything in, nor did he ever take the easy way out with documentation only. Ben personally showed up to represent me in courts up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Ben was the youngest attorney ever to argue a case before three Presidential appointed justices at the second highest court in our country, the US Appellate Court. HIs opponent, the US Justice Dept., did not intimidate Ben whatsoever. Ben presented my case so conclusively, the Justice Dept. had no choice but to immediately settle the matter in my favor. I have no idea how Ben kept track of everything. My legal issues spanned the course of two years. Ben always replied to my calls and e-mails immediately. Ben kept me informed every step of the way. He was a comfort to me in times of extreme distress. Ben went above and beyond with the time and energy he devoted to my case(s). He was always optimistic, but realistic, in what to expect. Ben is not only a fantastic lawyer, but a genuine human being. He truly believes in what he is fighting for and wants to bring an end to injustice. Hiring Ben Flam to represent me was the best decision I could have made.

Amazing Attorney - Please read my review

Benjamin Flam is the most dedicated, professional and caring person that I have ever come across in my life. During my dealings with Mr. Flam, I was the plaintiff who was originally dealing with an attorney from another firm. After spending $15,000 out of my pocket without seeing any results, I was r...ecommended to meet Mr. Flam. Mr. Flam requested that I send him all of the relevant information and meet him. Upon our initial meeting, Mr. Flam, knew every detail of my case and had it memorized as well. Easy to say my prior attorney who never returned my calls was immediately fired and Mr. Flam was my choice of representation, hired on an agreed upon, customer friendly retainer. The confidence and professionalism that Mr. Flam displayed was not an act as I was fortunate enough to see him work for me. Mr. Flam and I had scheduled call times every week that he never missed. During each call, Mr. Flam patiently reviewed our prior calls, and revealed any new information, movements and timeframes. Mr. Flam’s research of the defendants and determination to reach out and find witnesses should my case need to go to trial was impressive and most importantly successful. During the intricacies of this lawsuit I was always made to feel as if I was Mr. Flam’s only client and his most important one. I actually moved states during this lengthy legal process and Mr. Flam took roughly 4-7 trips to my new home to meet my family and myself to tactically go through my case and potential strategies and scenarios. Mr. Flam even showed up at my mother’s job with flowers, a total class act. There was never a point where I was in the dark which is a rarity with the hectic schedules and fees associated with attorneys. When Mr. Flam decided we were at a point in time to ask for a settlement agreement, the defendant’s attorney agreed with Mr. Flam that this was the best option at the time but was also authorized by the defendant to choose the mediator of his choice. Mediating the settlement of a lawsuit, is a long up and down process in which I may have wavered but never saw Mr. Flam break a sweat. He stuck to our strategic approach, kept his eye on the goal and kept me very well informed of every word he selected to say and every piece of information he decided to share. Needless to say Mr. Flam came out on top, but not before one more class act. After receiving everything on our list, Mr. Flam let the mediator know that he has significantly reduced his fees for me to basically nothing for all of the years of work he has done for me, requested that the defendant pay for the mediator and add financially to our settlement. The defendant had no choice but to buckle. I am honored to have met Mr. Flam who I keep in touch with on a daily basis and refer to him as a friend and a brother. Ben took 3 years of hurt and anguish off my back, resurrected my career, my finances and my will to live positively. I owe Ben more than he could ever imagine. Needless to say if you need an attorney, hire Ben without hesitation and feel confident.

Avoid at all costs if Transgender or LGBTQ. Do NOT recommend. Has a way of making me feel very unimportant.

Ben is a bad person and I told him that directly. Do NOT recommend for anyone Especially if you are TRANS or LGBTQ+. I had to argue with Ben about using my preferred name and pronouns. This was early on in my transition so felt emotionally exhausting and traumatic. He came in hot with big claims an...d then became impossible to get ahold of. Then he would set a time and not show up. He always had an excuse — funeral, other clients, contract negotiations, etc. I was always 2nd or 3rd class despite being a paying client. When we did talk he drained me emotionally asking about personal matters, family estrangement, and my gender transition — none of which he used in negotiations ultimately leaving me feeling violated and like my privacy was invaded and taken advantage of. Instead he wanted to be the hero and my therapist. Neither of which I asked for. My short-term disability ended and he still didn’t have a contract for me to review until two more weeks despite plenty of lead team. When we did talk it was all about my gender transition, invasive private questions, about my lack of family support and patronizing me. He would get emotional when I asked for status updates or details — saying thing like “I know you’re going through a hard time but don’t take it out on me” for simply asking normal questions. He claimed to be on a first-name basis with my employers lawyer, and as such kept me out of the loop on all calls and told me I couldn’t join when asked. Finally we discussed what would go on the contract. When he came back with it - it was a complete mess. Promising things my doctor explicitly said no to and other line items that I could not have been more clear about. Despite this correspondence being noted several times over email and text he still denied it — saying we never talked about it. That’s his privilege though. He didn’t think he owed me a basic amount if respect and dignity. He didn’t even give me a single round of review for feedback. He was just like here you go .. . I actually made all these decisions without your consent and went against the wishes of you and your doctor. Too late now though. It became clear to me he didn’t present my strongest arguments which were on grounds on my being a protected class. He actually didn’t tell them or bring up the fact I was transgender at all — despite asking him 3-4 separate times. Instead he lied by omission saying nothing at all. When I asked about MCAD timelines, recaps, meeting notes and details - he left me high and dry in the negotiation phase. I had to fire him and go renegotiate with my employer on my own. The terms were overwhelmingly in the favor of my employer but I couldn’t go without medical coverage so had to take it. His takeaway ended up being $5k mine was closer to $3k after the unplanned gap. I’ve never felt so disrespected or taken advantage of. I’d take him to court for malpractice but that would require a jury trial - something I’d never win as a Trans person. He did everything your not supposed to do to Travs clients … Making decisions for me, misgendering me (in person and behind closed doors), lied, exaggerated, and failed to act in good faith, The situation left me feeling abused and manipulated. Hiring him was one of the worst decisions I made in my life. He left me far worse off. Because he didn’t take the % cut I was supposed to be ok with whatever I got - while he walked away with $5k for doing almost nothing that I asked. Never got any apologies. He took advantage of my kindness and vulnerability - He never asked for input or my feedback and played me as if he was fighting for my life. The evidence was obvious and overwhelmingly. He just didn’t want to try. At one point he even signed me up for further stressful and invasive investigations. On my contract he noted he’d be in attendance for “emotion support” but not legal purposes. I cannot express how offensive that felt without even asking me. Simply put — Ben is not a good person.
