I represent employees and students facing discrimination, retaliation, and civil rights violations.
In my education discrimination work I represent students, teachers, and professors at all levels of education who have experienced discrimination, harassment, or assault at school, or who are being accused of committing violations of their schools policies related to sexual misconduct, academic misconduct, and other matters. I represent these students both in their internal school disciplinary processes, in complaints to federal agencies, and in litigation where necessary to enforce their rights. My familiarity with schools' unorthodox adjudicatory procedures, substantial knowledge of Title IX, and understanding of sexual violence issues results in excellent outcomes for the students I represent. In addition to representing students, teachers, and professors in university administrative proceedings, I litigate on behalf of these clients to enforce their civil rights in federal and state court.
In my employment practice I represent clients who have faced discrimination and retaliation in the workplace based on their race, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, and she advises clients in ongoing employment situations and workplace conflicts. I litigate cases in state and federal court on behalf of my clients, and have obtained favorable outcomes and substantial financial settlements for my clients. I have helped numerous clients negotiate separation from their employers and obtain favorable severance packages.

"With pleasure I evaluate our associate Naomi Shatz as an outstanding lawyer. She has been with our firm for over four years and I have worked with her on a number of criminal cases. She argued a motion for a judgment of aquittal in a cruelty to animals case to a judge in the Boston Municipal Court. The judge allowed the motion and the client was acquitted of all charges as a result of her outstanding legal writing and allocution.
Additionally, she worked as co-counsel with me and my partner Inga Bernstein in a highly celebrated case involving alleged fraud of a Boston charity. The prosecutor argued that the defendant serve 3 years in state prison and with Naomi's help we developed a written and oral presentation in support of our recommendation of probation. We prevailed and Naomi was an integral part of the presentation. In preparing this case, Naomi had to do a great deal of legal and factual research as well as helping us with the memorandum on sentencing."
