My criminal practice includes trial and appellate matters in both state and federal courts where I have represented clients on charges ranging from drug possession and conspiracy, animal abuse, money laundering, obstruction of justice, fraud, tax evasion, and other white collar crimes, murder, and foreign extradition. I have also counseled and assisted clients during federal investigations.
In my civil practice, I represent employees in cases in state and federal courts and before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which include claims of: employment discrimination (i.e., race, gender, disability, pregnancy, caregiver status, age), sexual harassment, retaliation, hostile work environment, wrongful discharge, and violations of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), wage and hour laws, and whistleblower protection laws. I also advise and represent clients in severance negotiations and other workplace conflicts to resolve disputes without resorting to litigation. I have worked on behalf of executives and professionals in a variety of industries, including finance, law, higher education, government, and healthcare.
In addition to employment law, my civil practice includes civil rights cases and representing students in university/academic disciplinary and Title IX proceedings.

I endorse this lawyer.Monica just finished a week-long tax fraud case with me. She was superb. She put on our expert and did a great job, and she argued in limine and instructional issues and got the judge to adopt a number of our proposed instructions. I have worked with her on a number of other cases and she is always totally prepared and a fierce advocate.

Monica Shah has worked with me and our firm for over five years. Monica is courageous, extremely hard-working, and brilliant. Early in her career, she has been willing to try both jury and non-jury cases, and she has had some great successes. She was the second seat to me in a first-degree murder trial, which resulted in a verdict of second-degree murder in a brutal case. She tried an arbitration by herself against experienced attorneys and won on every single count and issue. She recently has tried an employment discrimination case, in which she and another associate obtained a verdict of almost 11 million dollars, one of the highest awards in an employment discrimination case. Monica has been working to prepare a federal tax case, in which we represent the defendant, in the state of North Carolina, and has traveled extensively in order to review the voluminous documentation in that case. I would recommend Monica Shah to anyone without reservation.
