For years, my husband and I have been talking about establishing an estate plan and finalizing our wills. However, we didn’t know where to begin or who to see, so we kept on procrastinating, worrying all the while. All that changed when we were referred to Tom Marks. Not only is he very knowledgeabl...e and professional, but friendly, caring and kind. He has a great sense of humor, too. If you didn’t understand something, he would explain it differently. We had many complex issues and questions, which Tom addressed in detail. He worked with us over several sessions to create our wills, health care proxies, and an individualized estate plan designed to meet our specific needs. We are very pleased and relieved that the procrastination is over. Unlike other lawyers who charge by the hour, Tom charges a flat fee no matter how long the sessions run, or how often you need to email or call him. Even though our plan has been finalized, it is comforting to know that we can continue to call Tom with questions. As for the sessions, some were held at our house and some at his office, where he allowed our little dog, too. No, we didn’t leave the estate to the dog, but Tom did make sure we indicated who would care for him if something happened to us. We highly recommend Tom for his outstanding skills on all levels, personal and professional.

My wife and I hired Atty. Marks after a reference from an associate of ours. We wanted Wills, Healthcare proxies, Power of Atty., trust for each of us, and an irrevocable trust for our home. We met with Tom for an hour to explain what we want to accomplish. We had laid out how trust payments would be... handled and by whom. It was very simple ( I thought). He took all the time we needed to explain the laws and why we could not do what we wanted, but showed us how to accomplish our goals with the best financial results possible. Our estate planning has been complete for 4 months now and Tom is still available to answer any questions we come up with. The cost of his service was low compared to the effort and service we received. I would hire him again.

Seeking estate planning, I found Tom on the Internet and chose him without viewing any references. I made a great choice. After spending 10 minutes with Tom it was obvious that he is an expert on Massachusetts estate planning. I needed everything - a will, all the health care documents, a power of a...ttorney - the whole package. He absolutely and obviously understood all of these items and .clearly advised me as to what options were available to me, while carefully explaining the ramifications of each option. He did not rush through the process and he does not charge by the hour. I believe he takes personal and professional pride in creating air tight, rock solid estate plans. Additionally, Tom went out of his way to make the process as convenient and efficient as possible. He offered to meet with me at my home, which I accepted, and at that time we agreed upon what level of estate planning I needed and began the process of making estate decisions. A week later he returned to my home where we made some final adjustments and set up an appointment to sign and notarize the documents. We met at an office close to my home, and Tom provided the legally required witnesses - a huge time saver for me. When I left with the the papers in my hand, I felt I had done all the right things to protect myself and my family. It is a good feeling. In conclusion, Tom is very good at what he does and makes the process painless. I highly recommend him.
