A Skilled and Talented Attorney

Before I hired Gary, my divorce languished in mediation and litigation. My ex-wifes lawyer had dragged out the divorce for over two years, employing as many dilatory maneuvers as she could conjure to delay the divorce and churn fees. My ex wife fully participated in this process having bought the... false promises made to her by her lawyers. Among the many promises they made was a truly extraordinary claim that they had the ability to get her support and assets that were greater than those allowed under the Alimony Reform Laws of 2011. Their angle was they could get her a support award based on maintenance of her (exaggerated) marital lifestyle. The lawyer I had at the time was completely ineffective. She continually accepted disingenuous representations from my ex's lawyer that they wished to settle, when in fact they had no interest in any rational settlement. When Gary took over my case he knocked my Ex-Wife's lawyers back on their heels. He subpoenaed documents and discovered my ex-wife had been siphoning financial assets for years and hiding them in multiple safe deposit boxes. We learned she had been going on secret trips with other third persons. Gary learned that my ex-wife who said she could not find a job, had actually played over 100 rounds of golf and 300 tennis matches the previous year, and had gone on a half dozen vacations to resort locations. Gary immediately deposed my ex-wife and he caught her in multiple contradictions and lies. Gary also got her to make several very important admissions, which would later prove critical to our case. Gary then proceeded to have a Special Master appointed (which my Ex's lawyers opposed) to determine certain asset values that my ex-wife had inflated to her benefit with the assistance of shill experts she had hired. The Special Master held a hearing and effectively determined the appropriate asset values were less than half of what my ex-wife and her so called experts proclaimed them to be. Within 5 months of Gary taking over as my lawyer my ex-wife's lawyers quit the case and referred my ex wife to other lawyers, who they said could better represent her in a trial. My ex-wife pressed on with her new and even more expensive Boston lawyers. She took me to a trial and demanded 46% of my income and 60% of our assets. She brought both of her high priced lawyers to Court with her every day to argue her case. When Gary got her on the stand he got her to admit that her demand for support had no basis in need. She admitted that her demand was what she wanted not what she needed. He showed her how the evidence on her expenses contradicted the representations on her financial statement and proved that her expenses were not as high as she reported. He exposed her indolent and indulged lifestyle to the Court. My ex-wife, a licensed RN, testified she could not find work. Gary discovered records that showed my ex-wife had been working under the table for extra income that she was not reporting to the court. This fine legal work resulted in an attribution of income to my wife in the final judgement. He methodically and expertly took her through her cross examination and exposed her misrepresentations, exaggerations, false allegations, and entitled attitude. He proved her to be "not credible". When the judgement came in Gary had won his arguments. My ex-wife got exactly what the statutes provided for, nothing more. Gary had succeeded in dismissing her lawyers demands for higher support to fund her extravagant lifestyle. I was very pleased with the judgment Gary got for me. He is a skilled. honest, and talented attorney and he can best any high priced Boston divorce lawyer(s). He cares about his clients, which is not something I ever felt from my other legal representation. His fees are reasonable and he is extremely fair with his time. He is the best divorce attorney in Massachusetts! You should not hesitate to hire him.

Divorce

I was referred to Gary by my financial advisor of 13 years. I was faced with divorce after 40 years of marriage. It was complicated by the fact my ex was retired military. Gary made it his business to educate himself on all aspects of the military law regarding divorce.Gary with his endless energy and... attention to detail, and Helene, his paralegal, with her calm and compassionate nature make the perfect team. They are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of divorce and family law. They both took the time to educate, support and guide me through this difficult process.Gary always handled himself with the highest standard of professionalism. He is well respected throughout the court system. After a 5 year battle, the outcome was all in my favor.I cannot express my love and gratitude I feel for for Gary and Helene. They will always be very special to me.I would highly recommend them to represent anyone in a divorce or family law case. Donna B.

More than Just a Great Attorney!

I met with Gary one morning before work. I did some research prior to setting up an appointment and wanted someone that I thought would listen to my situation. Gary not only was extremely accommodating through the course of our discussion he gave me some really good resources and said to me "you ar...e not ready for a divorce". With his resources I was able to work on piecing my marriage back together. I never had an attorney talk in such a straight forward manner. I believe Gary really cares. We explored many options and at the end of our visit I realized this guy was interested in the human element too. I never got the divorce, but stay in touch with Gary. I would highly recommend him.

Highly Recommended - The Best

Gary was recommended to me by an attorney who opposed him. That attorney told me that Gary was the only one he would recommend to me. And his recommendation was spot on. Gary took the largest case file most lawyers have ever seen, 8 open complaints with multiple partial judgments over a 6 year period..., multiple aspects of legal and physical custody, finance, police reports, GAL reports, depositions, parent coordinator, psychologists, and split siblings. Gary, in only a few months, pulled together the entire case, organized it, applied a winning strategy, and executed the strategy and plan. Six years of open issues were solved in only a few months start to finish (3-day trial). Gary and his paralegal, Helene, are an amazing, organized, knowledgeable team that I have not seen rivaled in this local industry of divorce law. My children and I are grateful to Gary for setting the standard that other attorneys should aspire to.

Highly Recommended

Gary Avartin has been our lawyer for over a year. During that time we have worked together very closely, jointly developing strategies and dealing with all the issues that come up with divorce cases. We have been before the court for many emergency motions, a full trial and contempt charges (agains...t the other party) after the trial. I have sat in the courthouse many days for several hours awaiting our case to be called, and watched many other lawyers represent their clients. I state in an unqualified manner that there is no other lawyer I would want to have than Gary Avartin. He is a gem! He connects with his clients in a personal way and becomes part of the case. Throughout the entire process he kept us informed and educated us on the workings of the probate court, which can be very confusing and frustrating. Gary can be depended upon to do the right and ethical thing. He is very documentation and proof oriented. No detail is missed in “proving” his assertions. He is also relentless in finding information that can be used to defend or assert his position. When speaking to the court, Gary is compelling. He passionately presents his points and leaves nothing out. He is appropriately aggressive and defends his clients to highest standards. A close friend of mine has referred several others to Gary and without exception their opinions and experiences are the same. I recommend Gary fully and without hesitation would refer any personal friend or family member to Gary.
