Patrick J. Heffernan is a graduate of Connecticut College and New England School of Law and he is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Maine.
Attorney Heffernan began his legal career as a Paralegal in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. During his tenure at the Attorney General’s Office, Attorney Heffernan gained exposure to a vast array of criminal law issues and spent several months assisting with the legal research for the United States Supreme Court case Melendez-Diaz v. Massachusetts.
At New England School of Law, Attorney Heffernan received a Dean’s Scholarship and was recognized for his achievements earning Dean’s List Honors each semester. While attending law school, Attorney Heffernan’s gained valuable legal experience working in Enterprise and Major Crimes Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office as well as the Roxbury District Court Unit and the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Additionally, Attorney Heffernan had the privilege of serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the New England Journal on Criminal & Civil Confinement. The New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement is one of the nation’s top criminal law journals addressing the major constitutional and policy issues in the areas of criminal justice and civil confinement.
Attorney Heffernan grew up on the North Shore of Boston and currently resides in Salem, Massachusetts.
