❌ Don’t Hire Him!

Brian represented me during my divorce for nearly 3 years. I have now had both another lawyer and a judge tell me he committed malpractice in my case. My divorce actually went to trial. Brian never did discovery! I didn’t have two years of my ex-husband‘s tax returns. Brian also never requested all ...the statements from my ex-husband’s retirement accounts, which would’ve indicated that he took loans and disbursements. I had asked Brian for the tax returns, and I had also protested that his financial statements were pure fiction. I actually had to negotiate child support on the final court date! It took hours. My ex’s financial statements didn’t even include his rental income. Brian should’ve walked right into the judge and cried contempt. Because it was!! If Brian had done proper discovery and gotten either the retirement account statements OR the tax returns, we would’ve known about my ex’s thievery. Brian did neither! He’s also horrible at litigating in court too. In fact, the last trial date that I had, I had to speak up while Brian was standing there not advocating for me. My divorce is poorly written (I even suspect that my ex-husband’s council drafted the entire thing!) and only requires my ex to pay back “loans” from his retirement accounts. I recently paid another attorney over $10,000 to subpoena my ex-husband account statements, showing he took a loan, but also larger disbursements. Also, my divorce decree gives my ex-husband a loophole where he doesn’t have to provide health insurance for me anymore “if his employer doesn’t allow ex-spouses” to be covered. So, despite the fact that his employer does allow ex-spouses to be covered, and it’s illegal in MA not to, of course my ex-husband canceled my health insurance. I contacted his HR directly and fixed it myself because Brian didn’t return my phone calls. While the health insurance issue was going on, I actually signed a new contract and sent a large deposit to Brian’s new law firm to hire him. They came up with some bullcrap excuse that I signed the “wrong contract” and they needed me to sign something else. They didn’t want my case because Brian had made a mess of it. Then they returned my retainer without returning my phone calls. Do not hire him! I paid him over $18k and my divorce agreement is a nightmare.

Did nothing for my case

Hired him so I could fight to see my daughter got no where courts don’t care about the man obviously he only cared about himself had a court date back in August he couldn’t stay then he pushed another court date back to the next day when I couldn’t and never rescheduled like he said he would have so ...I gave up with him and the legal system nothing is fair I will never see my dsughter!!!

Incompetent

Brian is incompetent. He should go back to doing finance. He has written on his website that he serves his clients interests rather than his own; however, he serves his own interests and then some. It is important for a lawyer and his/her client to have a strategy and not to have swirling drama, espe...cially when the lawyer is representing the father as the father doesn't have the same privileges as the mother with the Boston courts. Brian had to strategy and provided to case law; but rather just his opinion. He took hours to review documents which should have taken 1/10th as long. He even charged me for withdrawing as my attorney. $3500 retainer at $350/hr resulted in no action items. If you want to waste your time and money Brian is a good choice. The bar is low with him.

Awesome Experience with Brian Waller

We hired Brian to help us work with the DOR and get resolution on a settlement for past child support. The late fees and penalties had made it impossible to get caught up with no closure in sight . Brian worked diligently with us and the DOR to get us an affordable and realistic settlement. He is affo...rdable, personable and professional. He kept us updated and informed every step of the way. I would recommend and trust Brian 100% for future legal matters .

Unprofessional

Sequel law touted themselves as “ Not a typical law firm” and I would conquer. I have never heard of another law firm who does not return the calls or emails of a paying client. I find this to be exceedingly unprofessional. If you are seeking an attorney who shows up for you, communicates with you an...d follows through, I implore you to look elsewhere. A client should never have to chase an attorney. They should feel heard and supported.

I am really sorry to hear you feel that way. We take pride in keeping clients well-informed and being responsive. Sometimes we have a lot happening and can't respond as quickly as we would like, unfortunately, but that is not how we usually operate. I would love for you to contact me directly so we can understand your experience and ensure we don't have other clients feel that way. Either way, thank you for your feedback.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
