About Brian

Learn Brian’s areas of practice.

I transitioned to divorce and family law after 15+ years working in accounting and operations for start-up technology companies. I strongly believe lawyers overlook the client experience and often force clients to work their way instead of the best way for the client. I try to look at everything from the client's perspective and try to make things as easy as possible for them.

I am a firm believer that the best way to resolve disputes is through direct communication with the other party. The court system should be the last resort, and I have no problem advising clients that they are better off handling an issue themselves if practical. I view the client relationship as a long-term collaboration rather than a quick money grab. I would much rather a client be completely confident in recommending our firm to a friend or come back years later when they do actually need a lawyer than feel taken advantage of.

I specialize in divorces with financial issues, whether high-income or net worth, family-owned businesses, real estate, retirement assets, or stock options and other equity compensation. All divorces have a range of issues though, so I am certainly not limited to financial cases by any means.

I understand that there is a lot at stake in every family law case, and every case is unique. I consider myself fortunate to be able to work with clients from all walks of life, and I love doing what I do because I know two days will never be the same.

Awesome Experience with Brian Waller
We hired Brian to help us work with the DOR and get resolution on a settlement for past child support. The late fees and penalties had made it impossible to get caught up with no closure in sight . Brian worked diligently with us and the DOR to get us an affordable and realistic settlement. He is affordable, personable and professional. He kept us updated and informed every step of the way. I would recommend and trust Brian 100% for future legal matters .

Brian is an amazing attorney and a surprisingly great guy for the profession. He is upfront, honest, respectful and personable. He gives realistic expectations and is quickly responsive to you’re needs. He does not overbill and is honest with how much and for how long his expertise is required. Highly recommend.

I found an attorney and a lifesaver in one call
I made a mistake in fear initially and was captured by an advertisement claiming to fight for fathers rights. The only fight that was going on was with my constant billing with little to nothing to show for it. I was desperate to find a better attorney that didn't leave me wondering how I was going to eat until my next payday. My situation was challenging and I was fearful I was running out of options and then, thankfully, I met Brian Waller. Our first conversation put me at ease as I felt we were working together as opposed to my first experience which was more like buying a car with a lot of upselling. Brian is very responsive and is able to keep the bigger picture in clear view during a very emotional and challenging experience. Late on a Friday, an email in the weekend and evening hours, Brian was always there for me. I had all but given up on reaching an agreement without going to trial but Brian kept a steady hand on the wheel and was able to bring everything together. His calm demeanor and ability to navigate through difficult situations was a relief for me. I went from being anxious and nervous at every turn to someone who understood where we were, where we were trying to get to, and what I needed to do to ensure that happened. I can't thank Brian and Sequel Law enough for all they did for me and my children!

Excellent person and attorney
I consider myself so fortunate to have found Brian when I did. He truly helped me regain my footing in life during an incredibly difficult time. The security of knowing he was dedicated to providing the best possible outcome in my case allowed me to focus on other things. I felt he was very professional, knowledgeable and responsive to my needs.

Divorce and Restaining Order Case
Highly recommended reasonable law firm, Firm head Mr. Brian and his experienced team specially very energetic and confident Attorney Akosua Agyepong who helped me through out my divorce case for almost a year. Where I was facing an extreme financial and emotional crisis, they not only helped me with lower down my fees but also be able to provide me financial assistance from my ex husband who was refusing to help me financially. I'm highly satisfied with the services they have provided me. Through out my case they efficiently respond to the emails and calls. They both have done a great job in my Trial case and made it really easy for me. I wish Sequel Law firm and their team good luck for their future cases. Thank you for your great services!

Child custody/support case
When I choose the attorneys at Sequel Law, my initial reason was the affordable cost, it was not required up front however due by the closing of the case. This alone was extremely helpful for me to be able to obtain an attorney for my very difficult child custody /support case. When I met with Brian we went over the details and planned how to move forward. He and his colleagues Akosua and Casey handled communications and procedures very professionally and efficiently. I felt very confident in knowing I had chosen this very well educated and experienced firm. They investigated thoroughly and dug out facts that I was not able to compile on my own with my busy schedule. This firm went above and beyond to seek the appropriate justice for my case. They are very approachable and easy to communicate with. If you provide them with the information they need they will do their best to seek the best possible outcome for you. I would absolutely recommend this firm 100% to anyone seeking a professional caring law firm.

responsive and good outcome for my case
Attorney Waller represented me in a criminal case in Worcester and thought the DA's plea offer was too harsh for a first offense. My probation ended up being half of what the DA offered because the judge agreed and ruled for me. Attorney Waller was easy to deal with and always kept me up to date on what was happening with my case.

Sequel law touted themselves as “ Not a typical law firm” and I would conquer. I have never heard of another law firm who does not return the calls or emails of a paying client. I find this to be exceedingly unprofessional. If you are seeking an attorney who shows up for you, communicates with you and follows through, I implore you to look elsewhere. A client should never have to chase an attorney. They should feel heard and supported.

Response from Brian Waller October 24, 2022
I am really sorry to hear you feel that way. We take pride in keeping clients well-informed and being responsive. Sometimes we have a lot happening and can't respond as quickly as we would like, unfortunately, but that is not how we usually operate. I would love for you to contact me directly so we can understand your experience and ensure we don't have other clients feel that way. Either way, thank you for your feedback.

Brian is incompetent. He should go back to doing finance. He has written on his website that he serves his clients interests rather than his own; however, he serves his own interests and then some. It is important for a lawyer and his/her client to have a strategy and not to have swirling drama, especially when the lawyer is representing the father as the father doesn't have the same privileges as the mother with the Boston courts. Brian had to strategy and provided to case law; but rather just his opinion. He took hours to review documents which should have taken 1/10th as long. He even charged me for withdrawing as my attorney. $3500 retainer at $350/hr resulted in no action items. If you want to waste your time and money Brian is a good choice. The bar is low with him.
