My Experience with Lori Irene Steger at Steger Law

I do not write this review lightly. I retained Lori Irene Steger at Steger Law to represent me in the dissolution of a marriage of more than three decades and ultimately paid the firm $30,858.66 in legal fees. My dissatisfaction is not simply because I did not receive the outcome I expected. My conc...erns are about the communication, guidance, preparation, management of important financial issues, and follow-through I experienced. This was a financially and logistically complex divorce that included disputed employment and income issues. In 2005, I sold my small business and moved overseas to support my husband's career. I subsequently spent approximately 15 years outside the workforce. I question whether my case received the level of financial investigation, organization and management its complexity required. Communication was a persistent problem. There were times when I had difficulty getting calls and emails returned or getting answers to important questions. On more than one occasion, I had to physically go to the office to have my questions answered. I was never prepared by my attorney for mediation, hearings or court appearances. I went into these important proceedings completely unprepared. I received no meaningful guidance about what to expect, the issues that would be addressed, the questions I might be asked, or the information and documents I should be prepared to discuss. In my view, preparing a client for proceedings this important is one of the most basic responsibilities of legal representation. I expected that preparation and did not receive it. Lori Irene Steger filed an urgent motion seeking temporary financial relief and reinstatement of my health insurance. The judge determined that the matter was not an emergency but specifically stated that either party could call the motion up for a hearing. That hearing was never requested. I do not understand why the hearing the court permitted was not pursued. The settlement process was very concerning. This was a major financial agreement following more than three decades of marriage, and I did not have adequate time to carefully review the final document with my own attorney before signing it. The electronic audit history shows that my husband's attorney sent the final Partial Marital Settlement Agreement directly to me at approximately 7:50 p.m. on April 2, 2025. I opened it at approximately 8:08 p.m. and signed it at approximately 8:37 p.m. My attorney electronically signed later that evening. My court hearing was the following morning, April 3, 2025. I emailed Lori Irene Steger and two staff members regarding $2,781.01 in educational expenses. That expense was never addressed in the settlement. There was also an unresolved issue involving $6,168.38 in escrow refunds associated with one of our properties that was never addressed. After Final Judgment, I attempted to pursue both matters myself through post-judgment motions. Those efforts were unsuccessful. I also had to pursue correction of the Final Judgment myself because restoration of my former name, although previously discussed, had been omitted. An Amended Final Judgment ultimately restored my name. I ultimately received no alimony. I understand that no attorney can guarantee an alimony award. However, after everything I experienced, I believe important aspects of my divorce were dropped and that a firm with stronger practices for preparing clients, managing important financial issues, and moving a complex divorce forward professionally, efficiently and effectively might have put me in a stronger position. This review reflects my personal experience. Others may have different experiences, but I wish I had asked more questions before choosing the attorney who represented me through one of the most consequential financial events of my life.

You can't go wrong with Lori!!

I used Lorie Steger in the past she was so helpful and got my parenting plan in order and got child support garnished weekly for my son. Recently had new issues co-parenting I didn’t think twice about using Lori! She recommended mediation to save the cost of trial. She helped me accomplish what I set... out for in the best interest of my son. I highly recommend Lori! You want to save money and cut cost let’s just say you get what you pay for somewhere else…

Lori and her staff are very professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. Going through a divorce can be very difficult but having Lori on my side carried me through. Her court performance, is assertive and knowledgeable in asset distribution. She is the voice of reason. Hands down one of the best... attorneys in the area.

Professional in every aspect and compassionate.

My divorce was challenging because the opposing attorney believed in just pushing paper and billing. The entire time Lori took the high road always attempting to litigate in a professional manner. I was totally ay ease with her work and office personnel because I knew they always had my back and thei...r practices were professional and compassionate. If you should ever find yourself in need of a family lawyer, I strongly recommend Lori Steger!
