    Hired attorney

Very pleased with my experience with Matthew. Matthew set up my estate plan documents including my Trust, Will, Living Will, Power of Attorney and Advance Healthcare Directive. At the end of the process he delivers a binder with all original documents laid out and all instructions to fund the trust. He also included an electronic copy of all documents.

Matthew was responsive to my questions and explained every step of the process.

    Hired attorney

I was a client of Mr. Crider. I clearly stated in my initial contact what I wanted him to do. I stated that I needed to fight an attachment of wages for a child in his state. (The government had to have a judgment to have an attachment to my wages.) He asked me some qualifying questions then assured me he could help. When he processed a round of paperwork communicating with the proper division within the state he again asked me another round of questions. One of the questions was if I had been processed any paperwork which I did not respond to. I assured him to my memory I had not but the government disputes that statement. I was a whole state away and told him I tried to communicate with the state to handle this myself with no success previously. The bottom line is that given the chance to retain this attorney again, I would not! I do not recommend him & do not feel that he represented the best interest of his client in my case. I don't know if you'll have any more success with him but it's a risk you choose to take if you retain his service as I did.

  • Not someone I would recommend

Matthew was nice but difficult to get in touch with. I would have to send 2 or 3 e-mails and leave messages before I would hear back from him on multiple occasions. There were several times when I would ask a question and he would respond with information he had already provided me or ask me to provide information I already had given him then charge me for duplicate information. He did not communicate very well during the 2 years he handled my case. I felt like he wasn't really vested in my case. Overall while we eventually got the job done, I would not recommend him to represent anyone else

I found Matthew to be a professional, on-time, and knowledgeable attorney. He prepared our full set of legal/medical powers of attorney and wills documents. They were ready on time and were well organized and understandable. I would definitely recommend him to others.

  • A trust client

Mathew Crider created a trust for me. He was not even close to his projected date to complete the project. He often blamed others rather than take responsibility. This happened numerous times. He had some nice words of empathy, however I found them insincere. I would not use him again, I will not refer to him.

My husband and I attended a dinner seminar at Season's Restaurant that Matthew books in a private dining area at the restaurant. Not only was the dinner great, but the seminar itself was very informative and Matthew made it really easy for us to follow along as he explained the procedures of how to create a trust. We still had a few questions for Matthew so he invited us to dinner again (at Season's) so we could fully understand how he would prepare a trust for us. After attending the second seminar (and yes, another delicious dinner) my husband and I realized that Matthew Crider was the attorney that we wanted to prepare our trust for us. The overall process was relatively simple -- Matthew met with us in his Davis office, explained the process of the paperwork he would need, how we could obtain it and what the fee would be to prepare our trust. Any time we had a question or problem, either Matthew or someone from his office was available to answer our questions. I really liked the finished project; everything neatly contained within a binder and tucked away up on the shelf. Matthew will meet with you every few years to go over the information in case you have a life change; so far we have not had to use that service. I was so pleased with his work, I recommended my sister-in-law use him as her attorney to prepare her trust.

We had a really good experience with Matthew in setting up our trust and estate plan. Everything was organized to make it as easy as possible for us, while addressing the difficult questions about the future.

Matthew explains legal concepts clearly and concisely. The output (documents organized in a binder, filings with the necessary places, etc.) was very professional. The reminders about our "to do" items were pleasant, but diligent and persistent.

In all, this met my expectations and then some. I hope to make this rating a "5" when this advice and counsel is more severely tested in the future.

Matthew did a thorough job in completing our family trust. During the entire process he listened to our concerns and was easy to talk to. I would recommend Matthew to anyone seeking a good attorney.

  • Conservatorship not recommended

I hired Mr Crider to help me through a conservatorship case. I have never been through this before so I don't know how it should have been, but now I feel as though I was not prepped for interviews from the court, was ill informed about the possible outcomes and frustrated by his apparent lack of translating facts to a filing. He had to refile amendments more than once and caused me to question his skill so far as to the point that I consulted with another attorney for a second opinion. That attorney said he was so so. I have finally reaced him halfway through the court case after several thousand dollars spent and nowhere near resolution. I would never recommend him for conservatorship help.

Matthew Scott Crider’s response: “I’m sorry you feel you had a bad experience. Most people recognize that there are two sides to every story, and that going into court means there is a chance the court will rule against them. Because of the ethical rules governing lawyers, I cannot respond directly to any of your specific claims on this public website. I wish you the best of luck in the future.”
