Tara is the managing attorney at Cheever Law, APC. The firm handles business law, corporate compliance, entity formations, business succession planning, estate planning, Wills & Trusts and incapacity planning. Through this focus, Tara is able to provide clients with the highest quality of legal service in a responsible, caring and efficient manner. Tara further differentiates herself through professional excellence, straightforward communication, personal attention and creative solutions.
Tara provides a full range of estate planning services, counseling clients on what options they should consider before implementing their wishes. Through the use of various business law and estate planning techniques, she helps business owners and families protect their businesses, preserve their wealth for future generations, minimize estate taxes, avoid probate and minimize personal liability. In addition, Tara helps clients create an incapacity plan to avoid a Living Probate or Guardianship Proceeding and helps families who have experienced loss of their loved ones in Trust Administration matters.
Originally from the Chicagoland area, Tara attended the University of Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors. Tara moved to San Diego to attend Thomas Jefferson School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor and graduating Cum Laude.
Tara is involved in a number of professional organizations, including the California State Bar, the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, Wealth Counsel, ProVisors, Lawyers Club of San Diego, Strategic Trusted Advisors Roundtable - STAR San Diego, Enright Inns of Court, North County Estate Planning Council and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. Tara also is involved in community service efforts and has volunteered with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.
In order to achieve balance, Tara enjoys playing with her rescue Malipoo named Leo, exercising and enjoying beautiful San Diego.
